thinks that Ched should maybe have not been convicted. Will Hull fans round on him as an apologist ? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30742947
Well if a luddite ex player says so then it must be correct. FFS. **** the judicial system, Steve Bruce has spoken.
He was convicted by a jury, and an appeal, who were (IMHO) presented with far more facts than Steve Bruce was.
No idea why people allow themselves to be drawn into the whole mess! Not arguing either way, but why make your opinions public when it has nothing to do with you and can only cause your own club/career harm?
It just seems naïve at best to get involved. He's seen the public condemnation of those wishing to sign Evans, he's seen the reaction To Gordon Taylor's ill-advised comparison yet he feels compelled to suggest that a jury may have got it wrong. You'd have thought anyone with any common sense would give a quick 'no comment' and stay away from the incendiary topic. Baffles me
Can't for the life of me understand why a current manager of a club with no connection would want to be publicly involved. As for the Hull fans views on Ched had a quick squint at their site and the vast majority are even more down on him more than us
Just wait - once a few more like Steve Bruce start saying the same - just watch the tide turn on here regarding comments relating to Evans. If (when?) it does happen then get ready for comments on here such as 'I always thought his sentence was a bit dodgy'. Its guaranteed.
I'm a great believer in justice and facts. I don't know the guy, don't love him / hate him. To me he is just a footballer convicted of rape. As a believer in justice, if he wins any appeal, he will be a footballer who has been cleared and is no longer a rapist. That hasn't happened yet. If it does, I will still not know him, nor will I love him / hate him. There will be no overboard reaction from me.
Aye, I was waiting to see what legal expert Steve Bruce was going to say - he's read the evidence and thinks it's dodgy - well, wtf are we waiting for then....over to you Mr Bruce, you sign him for Hull then!
No club should want to give Ched a chance but I like that Bruce has spoken up like Harry Redknapp has. Not enough personalities in football who speak their mind without caring what others think of their opinion. For all we know our own manager might want him to get back into football too.
Evans appealed again and the courts are looking at it. The thing what has puzzled me is why the other person got acquitted of rape. He was there first. The case seemed to have hinged on the girl been to drunk to give consent to sex. The case notes can be found here www.crimeline.info/case/r-v-ched-evans-chedwyn-evans.
That's not quite correct mate. The notes state that being drunk is not necessarily a barrier to giving consent. The reason MacDonald was not convicted is because she chose to get in a taxi with him and go to his hotel for sex, which implies consent. The case notes also clearly state that Evans used deceit to access the hotel, accessed the room uninvited and proceeded to have sex with the victim, before leaving through a fire escape. I'm not sure how having read the notes that you can get the wrong end of stick so badly. This is the problem - people don't seem to understand why Evans has been convicted when it's there in black and white.
Stranger things have happened at sea......we all know that a lot of footballers are beyond the law or so they would have us believe. Very rare to hear one utter a bad word against another fellow pro.
