I'll spare you my inexpert and post-pub views on today's game but a big thanks to Hicksy, owen et al for the little things that made today a special day out. Redfearn's bar is a great addition to the matchday experience and everyone involved should be very proud of themselves. Missed the chance to have a chat with Cunning Stunt as he stormed past on a mission to the bar (I'll give you the excuse that my hair is 2 foot shorter than when last we met) but Turvey Tyke reckons we must sort out this Philharmonic twinning thing with LiverpoolRed. That's enough namechecks for tonight. A very happy (and more than a little merry) Burgundy Red.
No mate, I'm talking about the West Stand Bogs. Didn't visit the ones in Redfearn's but I'm sure they don't threaten either of the extremes represented by those singular pissoirs.
Ah, now you're talking. Maybe we could combine some of those awful daytime reality shows and do a bog swap. Our more discerning fans in the West Stand get to have a week urinating in the splendour of a grade II listed ornamental rest room, whilst in Liverpool unsuspecting punters can suddenly be surprised by fat American ladies leaning round the door and taking a snap of them with their todger out* pi55ing against a mouldy old wall whilst standing ankle deep in urine! * seriously, you used to have to make sure you had your back to the door whilst weeing in the Phil when I lived over there, and I presume you still do, as you never knew who'd pop their head round the door with a camera poised.
I've only been in "the Phil" a couple of times and that was a long time ago but it sticks in the mind. A good mate of mine when I was at Uni was from over that way and the pub featured on a couple of liquid afternoons around the various and varied boozers of that great city. I'm proud of the twinning idea and it'd be brilliant if the WBS guys could pull something off, even just as a tongue-in-cheek thing.
Run by volunteers who want to watch the match (and probably still missed the start and end from what I saw). Numbers limited by license too so one-in-one-out once the limit is reached. There was plenty of space at 2 o'clock though and we had membership cards and pints within 2 minutes of walking in at that time.
I must say Redfearns has added to the match day experience and me and the lad get in as much as we can. Gave the P&P a miss yesterday. The limit can always be a risk. Staff do a great job so thank you to everyone who runs it. Great job.
Security have other jobs to do so we can't keep em too late - 2.30 is early to stop admittance but not the end of the world. 2.15 on the other hand is not right.- unless we were at capacity
I was 4th in the qu at just gone 2pm. He's right, security dude was letting folk in as golf were leaving. As I got in 2.10ish he said to the remaining folk (8-10ish) that unless loads left the bar now, it's not worth waiting as can't let folk in after 2.15 cos there'd be no chance of gerrin a drink. was the young lad with yellow vest on. But I'm sure he was relaying a message from the 'blue coat' inside.
The Phil is one of mine mate. I can confirm, you're still not safe from the tourists when in the gents!
We hit capacity at 2:06pm yesterday. Even when at capacity it doesn't feel full inside, but the license limits us to 150 and we can't change that. The 2:15pm time is wrong though, it's 2:30pm. The young lad was new to the door though so will have a word for the next game.
I was thirsty! I kept looking to come over, you n Turvey were clacking like Jack n Vera! Then you'd gone. Next time fella.
Good to see you in Redfearn's yesterday even if I didn't get chance to say hello. That's two pubs/bars run by me you've been in now!
