Why is taking your shirt off a booking anyway? I don't agree with it but if I was his manager I'd be p*ssed off at players picking up these needless yellow cards, what if he was in a position to break down a counter-attack later in the game and needed to foul an opposition player? He'd probably be aware he'd be sent off so wouldn't do it and potentially cost his team a goal.
From Fifa:"Removing one's shirt after scoring is unnecessary and players should avoid such excessive displays of joy." In reality I suspect the rule change was in response to players revealing political messages on t-shirts under their shirts and also in response to Brandi chastain removing her shirt after scoring a goal. With the rise in popularity of women's football they probably wanted to put a stop to it. I'd make it a yellow card and automatic 5k fine personally with all funds directly to grassroots football
How do you pass a stringent footballers medical when you are as out of shape as Treacy? Surely alarm bells say "this lad couldn't give a toss"? "You've failed the medical tubby, NEXT." Did we not learn from Mido? Why offer a two year contract on someone so fat? Pay as you play at best, or go somewhere else.
Surely manager fine players who purposely get themselves booked by taking their shirt off. Anyway I prefered Francessco Totti when the great man took a selfie after scoring in the Rome derby today.
