Where do we stand with this squad? It seems like we've seen a lot of players get game time this year. I'm slightly concerned that whilst we are supposedly building a squad for the years to come we are still seeing countless loan players in and around the squad. 1 month loan deals seem strange to me, especially signing a forward when we all ready have many. The squad is bloated - when are Treacy, Hemmings, RNL, M'voto, Brown, Bailey and Phenix going to get any game time now? We've got so many midfielders and I'm not sure what any of them are meant to be - seemingly we have lots of role-less center mids and no wide men. This is shaping up to be a rant - I'll think this through a bit more and write something more coherent tomorrow
We were desperate for players, so much so that we needed to dip into the loan market. It is for the short term, but as long as it sees us safe then i don't care. Hopefully in pre season we see more players coming in on permanent contracts.
The one month loan deals are so we are not committed to them for the season if they can't cut it with them being untested in League football. If they prove themselves then the deals are extended .
I should hope a couple of these loanees are with a view to a permanent move; Ramage and Waring more likely than Kiwomya and Pearson but at the minute we're in need of bodies and seemingly, we are struggling to string together permanent deals. It was said last week we'd made offers for 3 players on permanent deals, we've signed one in Lalkovic, and made a public offer for O'Sullivan which seems unlikely at present so I don't think we're not trying to bring players in long term, we're just not getting that bit of luck you need in the transfer market. The one month deals are for 2 reasons, to ensure these young lads are up to the standard and to provide adequate cover until another player becomes available, mainly Winnall. I can't see all 3 of the young lads being here the rest of the season, but I could be wrong. As for the names you've mentioned, a few of them could be leaving soon. Brown and Treacy haven't been good enough. Bailey has been hit and miss, and I feel Hemmings may benefit from a loan out somewhere. As for Noble Lazarus, I think his days are numbered. M'voto is a crucial squad player at present and I can see him getting a fair bit of action as the season closes, purely due to injuries. To be honest, the large part of building work will be done in the summer, we're mid season and teams are reluctant to let players leave until they've got adequate cover in place.
Stoke, Chelsea, Man Utd, Will all have scout at Oakwell championship clubs will be scouting Warling, Alex, &Pearson. To see if they'll be able to step up another level The problem we've got is they'll be going to there clubs saying Barnsley have 2 18 year olds and a 17 year old in their back for and they're absolutely mustard then before you know it we've last six players, and with our tack record of singing players we'll be bang in trouble
The loanees will hopefully steady the decline and propel us to safety and then they may return to their clubs leaving us to start all over again. April will arrive and Mansford will encourage fans to renew season tickets early for next year to enable swift pre season action within the transfer market. July will arrive with minimal activity occurring. A last minute flurry of deals will occur with precious little time for the players to gel before the rigours of League 1 football is upon us once more. Ok Ok we all now know this occurred because we needed O Grady to move on to create revenue . Moral of the story is don't promise what you can't deliver . Ie: We stated that we would move away from the loan system yet we seem more reliant than ever on it. If we're gunna get our business done early that's fine, but if it's reliant on moving folk out then tell it as it is! Let's get this season over, get rid of the wasters and more importantly recruit PERMANENT signings to enable a clear way forward.
Points 2,3,4 are the reason I'm not getting a ticket next season I'm sick to death of being pillocked
What's the big problem with loan signings? I just don't get it... We haven't got a massive budget so we get a few players in that are within our wage structure because of their age and low wages who are looking to forge a career as a professional footballer... Some are hit and some aren't but a club with our wage budget has to rely on the loan market to survive we can't have 21 odd full time players on contracts and tie up every penny because if we get injuries where does that leave us? I can't see a problem with it myself we've done ok with it over the years for every Shea there's been a drinkwater that's come in and given their all same as for every mido signed full term there's been a Winnall who's come in and taken to the club and the supporters! Whoever runs out in a red shirt on a Saturday afternoon as long as they give everything I don't care wether they are here for a month or 5 years they will get my backing and support.....
Aye let's make it clear to all and sundry that we have to move a player on before we bring any in. Then other clubs can steal them for nowt knowing how desperate we are to offload. Some things are better left unsaid. Just use tha noggin.
Now then who will take the blame for signing such toss? All the above recruited in the July onwards scramble to get bodies in. Begging letter will no doubt arrive on the doormat after Easter
Sorry but there is a hell of a lot of people who though he did that. But as Mr Whitey often says each to there own
It's the way of the world. And it's called forming an opinion. Sometimes people witness things there not over keen on and form a point of view. At the end of the day our opinions can be debated all day long. Results, Standard of Performances and value for money are the main factors in determining if I pay a visit to watch the Reds. Some people will have other criteria as is their right.
