Also went to Old Trafford in 98 when we lost 7-0. I was 12 years old and my dad had promised me a mcdonalds on the way home if we won. I was already planning what to have!

When the 5th, 6th and 7th went in I couldn't understand why the Barnsley fans were still singing and basically having a party in the away end. Made me realise how bonkers football and particularly the reds are.

Made it all the sweeter when we knocked them out the FA cup too!

Best overal day was Liverpool in the FA cup a few years ago. Due to the club cocking up tickets I didnt think I was going but fortunately (for me )one of the London Tykes pulled out so I had his train and match ticket the journey there was pleasant as we were in 1st Class and the London Tykes are a good bunch to travel with (mostly!)
the game - still the best goalkeeping performance I have ever witnessed and Howards goal at the end is one of those I will always remember
The journey back was something else only time I have ever bought champagne before boarding a train along with most of the rest - As they say "its all about the journey"

Huddersfield away last match of the season was a strange one never been so stressed at a football game ever - and doubt I ever will be again but I wouldnt have missed it for anything

I can remember the 4-1 win at home on New Year's Eve 2011, but am struggling to think of any occasion we did the same at Elland Road. But my memory isn't exactly sharp.

    Norwich x2

Liverpool in the cup sitting with the home fans and missing Howard's winner due to the fact I was about to be lynched meaning I left early

Wycombe watching the game from up a tree behind the home end

Sheff Utd the relegation party even though I only witnessed 20 minutes of the game

Plymouth when we took over the place and won to stay up. Top weekend away with the Rising Sun and free Jack Daniels from a rather friendly barmaid.
    Bromsgrove when we mugged them.
Sunderland when Ashley scored, missed a pen and got sent off before Bruce tore them to pieces. Pre match drinks in Durham for my first ever trip with the Dove.
All the wins at Bell End Road but particularly when O'Connell and Archdeacon scored as I was stood on the Lowfields Road terrace with the home fans - it was rather lively!
    Birmingham in the play offs.
Fulham in 2000. Hobbled half way across London in a full length pot on my leg and we somehow stole 3 points, then back to a local boozer for a BBQ.
    Anfield twice
Sheff U when we sent 'em down
Oxford when we looked more like Rhyll than Brasil but who cared

The list goes on and many great friendships made along the way.

Was that the match where Banks scored 3 ? We won 4-2.
Stewart Barrowclough was superb that day, Banks fot the hattrick but Barra was my man of the match, possibly his best game for us .
I hated the away end at Millmoor, that narrow lane into the away end was a fecking deathtrap !

West Brom away first game of the season in '96 - we just knew we'd seen the players that would do something special.

Same season, Bramall Lane, Hendrie, Top of the league, fantastic day all round.

Liverpool in '97 and 2008 are up there purely for the fantasy of it all - Tarn winning at Anfield!

There's obviously been the big ones in the cups, play offs & final day drama's (Plymouth, Huddersfield) but one that was brilliant was MK Dons away in the cup.

We'd just flogged Stones & Davies and despite been in decent form people were worried that it would soon end and we'd go down.

The MK Dons win seemed to boost the whole club & for me played a massive part in us staying up. Big Marlon's celebrations at the end will live long in the memory & Steven Dawson was seen as a bit of a hero that day, he was out injured & decided to travel down & sit with the fans in the away end. Brilliant day from start to finish.

I also went to that Bradford game and would also say it was one of the best away days I had too, the atmosphere was immense and it was so end to end it was unreal, every time Bradford crossed the ball they looked like scoring! Paul Hayes scored one of the best goals I have ever seen live in the skin that nigh as well I think it was the 4th, ball came over, he back heel flicked it up over the full back who slipped trying to keep up, and cool as you like side footed it past the keeper. It was in the FA cup though not the JP trophy as I have still got the program. We played Walsall in the next round which I believe was the third round and drew nil nil an lost the replay 2-0, it was in the Andy Ritchie days. One of my most enjoyable periods of watching Barnsley that, proper attacking football!

Don't know about best considering the result but funniest was Marine away in the Cup when we got gubbed. The sight of Michael Spinks then of the supporters club and later to become Secretary at Barnsley standing on a dustbin outside an open window of the away dressing room and hurling abuse at the players and management on such a crap performance was very funny as Michael was quite a conservative chap !

Chester 4 th May 1968. We needed a point to win promotion and got it thanks to a headed goal from big Eric, I remember. We went on the Wombwell supporter coach (Burrows). We smuggled Steve S on and the organisers spent most of the way their counting heads as he suspected there was an extra person on board. Perhaps my memory is playing tricks on me but I think the youngsters were 3 to a seat. There were fewer worries about safety in those days. The result was a 1-1 draw which was enough to take us up. Happy Days.
As a matter of interest was anyone else who posts on this site on that coach?
