Reds v Port Vale: All-Ticket - More from the official site... 23-01-2015 01:42 PM <a href="http://wall.barnsleyfc.co.uk/Event/Barnsley"></a>
It's a ridiculous decision. The morons who want to fight will do so anyway and the club will lose out on revenue from the pay on the day supporters.
I've no doubt it isn't their choice, but the fact remains that it's going to hit them in the wallet and stop true supporters attending.
Ridiculous over-reaction to a five minute skirmish mostly involving the police rather than Port Vale fans. Anyone could tell you that trouble at Vale games largely begins and ends outside the away end at Vale Park. Their idiots come running around the corner and line up on that raised wall and basically 'have a go'. It doesn't matter who the opposition is, it's just what they do. Very unlikely they'll bring more than 500 fans, very few of whom will be trying it on in Barnsley. Silly police resources going into this game when in reality, the potential for trouble is very small.
On the way back from Crewe Alexandra, some people that had been to watch us, got in a skirmish at a boozer near Stockport station with some on there way back from Doncaster having watched Vale v Pikeys, due to Barnsley lot vastly outnumbering vale lot they exchanged phone numbers and to arrange a fight before our game at vale park, before the match 40 Barnsley lot had a ruck with 60 of them, two from barnsley were arrested before the game, since then about 20 vale have been arrested. Due to CCTV and phone records, having had their court dates moved 7 times everyone arrested following the events of that day are due at court on Tuesday next week, at a guess I would say their getting banned until they return to court and this measure as been taken to help plod enforce the bans and keep them from attending, if they're arrested before the game with a match ticket it's breach of a banning order, if they don't have a ticket it's hard to prove.
