The team............to BUILD, or not to BUILD............that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune or to take BUILDING SERIOUSLY against a sea of troubles but by doing so end them. Is it obvious that the managers in recent times have been under instruction from the directors to bring in lower league players and develop them. According to Don Rowing - the reason why Mark Robins was sacked was that he brought in too many loan players. If I remember right the words used at that time by Don, or it could have been Pat was "we are a club that brings players in and develops them". Hence the strategy used by Hillflicker while they were here. But has that strategy changed since Danny Wilson arrived? And has that change been caused by the development of a young player that was sold for £££Millions. Has the development and sale of John Stones caused the directors to realise that the way forward for the club is to build a young team? That is to say - instead of bringing older players in on short term contracts - develop players from the academy and bring other young players in from other clubs and put these players on longer term contracts - hoping that in time the team will develop and at the same time hoping that one or two of these players will attract a big money transfer. Of the two ways of doing things - I think this present system is far more interesting compared to the previous one - even if at the moment the team is losing games - basically because these younger players are on a huge learning curve.
No I think he saw...... 1) Premiership football. 2) The chance to one day play for England. 3) A massive payrise.
