It's no more a sport than "Strictly Come Dancing" or ballet.
Just expertly choreographed moves with a bit of violence throw in.
I'm a massive sports fan and can watch just about anything but wrestling is down to rehearsing the moves well so that you don't get hurt.
If they do get hurt is usually down to someone getting a move wrong or an accident.
Each to their own but don't try to convince me its a sport. Now proper wrestling as per the Olympics is a different kettle of fish.

Iv'e wrestled 7 years here in the UK and what you say is very common in people who don't follow wrestling.
Wrestling is entertainment, like a TV program or going to the cinema, you know its not real but you go to be entertained.
Wrestlers nowaday's admit to it being predermined, so faked or fixed ISN'T valid. ( I am awaiting another operation at the moment due to wrestling!)
Its half sport and half showbiz. some of the moves reqquire great skill to perform and making it look "real" is the other part of it.

Yep its not real, the outcome is known to the wrestlers before hand, but its a family show.
I can;'t wait for the royal rumble!!
Oh and when I wrestle, I do hit the other guy legit, has most of my "opponents" will admit to!

If you treat it for what it is, which is seeming angry well built perma tanned middle aged men bulked up on roids wearing tight fitting latex grappling with other middle aged permma tanned bulked up men in tight fitting latex and ignore the blatant homo eroticism of the show then its value for money.

I had typed a long response to this thread but my phone went spazzy resulting in me pressing back and losing it. In short, it was good in late 80s, **** now.

Not long back from the pub after work where we've just done the draw for our annual Rumble sweepstake. Unfortunately the current product really is making me wonder why I even bother watching anymore. In fact I rarely do; read the Raw reports on a Tuesday then FF through to any bits that sound interesting. For the last few weeks I've deleted it off the planner without even bothering, but this week I made an exception because they got stuff right for once.

Even the segment with the legends and Ascension came off well - book stuff to pop a crowd instead of piss them off. My lad is 7 and now thinks the APA are ace, 15 years after they were relevant. It's not difficult.

However, the constant win one-lose one philosophy which most wrestlers have to endure makes fans care less and less, but for some reason they continue with it. Especially when someone wins the IC title, surely holding that should mean something? Not that you'll lose one show in a non-title match just so you can defend the belt against the same bloke the week after. We'll never see days like he late 90s again, but it's still possible to get a product are genuinely interested in with a return to basics and giving fans what they want instead of giving Vince what he wants.

Someone mentioned Taker-Michaels in a cell at Badd Blood '97 - still the finest example of how wrestling can be genuinely dramatic. If you've never given wrestling a go, watch that and never watch another match again.

That Hogan/Flair/HBK segment was annoying because whenever a legend or commentator predicts something it usually means it's not going to happen. So they picked the Royal Rumble winners as Dean Ambrose, Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt. That to me means get your money on Roman Reigns who is heavily odds on at the bookies.

Didn't like the Ascension segment either. When heels do a strength in numbers beatdown the commentators are told to hate it. But when the babyfaces do a strength in numbers beatdown as happened to Ascension they love it. Roman Reigns is being pushed to the moon even though he's not that good. Dean Ambrose is really over with the fans and yet is made to JOB out most of the time. The booking through the company could be much better.
