I used to go watch Wakefield Trinity and they had a player called Waisale Sovatabua. The trin fans used to sing his surname over and over. My mate (that got me into it in the first place) for years believed they were singing "southern samoa!". I thought it was a bit odd as he was from Fiji...
Dr Alban's "It's My Life". When I was a kid I thought the woman said "stop ******* me". It was actually "stop forcing me".
I've actually seen that mate...on backstreets there's about a 5 page thread about different songs, it's actually really funny to read what some people thought he sang
My step son, when he was younger, started singing along in the car to "I can see clearly now the rain has gone", but thought it was "I can see Keely now Lorraine has gone". Genius! He took that attitude all the way through his teenage years as well!
Virtually all of "What's The Frequency Kenneth?" by REM "What's the frequency Kenneth? The shopping's a drain, uh huh" "You want to shag violently" (the correct lyric is "You wore a shirt of violet and green"
This isn't really a misheard song lyric, more like a misplaced/missing comma... In David Bowie's 'Moonage Daydream', the line where he goes "the church of man, love, is such a holy place to be", it took me years to find out that there's actually supposed to be a comma between the words "man" and "love"... Discovering that was quite a mind-blowing experience as it changed the whole meaning of that line. And that, children, is why correct punctuation and grammar is important!
I used to sing along to "fly away on my cell phone" by chilli peppers for a few weeks until I decided to actually find out what the lyrics were
Splodgenessabounds I was sure the lyrics were "2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps please" Turns out it's "A pint of lager, a pie and a coke cos I'm doing dry January"
Strange Town by The Jam "You've got to walk and talk in football time" Only found out a few weeks ago that it's actually "You've got to walk and talk in four four time"
Van Halens Panama always thought they were singing Animal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqszqHKIqEk
"The lonely Starbucks lovers, they'll tell you I'm insane " Taylor Swift Blank Space Which is actually "Got a long list of lovers...." Down with the kids me!
