My German wife often calls me an "Erbsenzähler" which literally translated means "Pea Counter". It's the German way of saying I'm far too pedantic. I don't agree, I think she's only 15.6% correct.
Love Germany, one of the few countries I'd consider moving to. Not that I've been to many other countries mind, but it beats Belgium, France, Holland, Greece, Spain and Wales
me too was not particularly impressed by the Zugspitz.... is it still on the championship circuit. Found a craking resort just inside the German/Austrian border from Garmisch... its not in any of the brochures that I have seen... and cannot remember the name, but it was fabulous.
Re: me too I'm guessing you mean Lermoos or Ehrwald on the Austria side of the border, been to both but only for a day, too small for a full week. As far as I know they still hold a World Cup event in Garmisch, on the famous Kandahar run. I've been down it a few times, but I suspect I was somewhat slower than the World Cup competitors.
it may have been Mittenwald.... but its many many moons ago now. We were staying in Scharnitz on the border and trying a different set of runs daily for a couple of weeks.... found some nice little places tucked away all over the place, as you say not enough for a week but for a day they were great.... we did Axamer Lizum a couple of times that was awesome... and Innsbruck caught my mind too.... enjoyed that one.
