And I still can't see what the fuss was all about. Even on their forum they're debating how many yards the ball was out of play. For me it wasn't entirely over the line. Certainly marginal if it was so for the lino not to give it is understandable. As I say, it's just in play for me.
Hmmmm, still not convinced. The ball only has to overhang the line, not be on it. Considering the lino on the West Stand side didn't give a throw in when the ball went out over his head and was closer to the dugouts than the pitch, the lino on the other side can be excused.
From that camera angle you can't tell clearly. Yes you can see the whole line but there will be some of the ball overhanging the line so I think it's still in play but it's close I wouldn't have complained if the linesman had flagged out. In any case we wouldn't even be discussing it if their keeper hadn't made such a hash of it.
The rule is that all of the ball has to be over all of the line. The bottom of the ball looks about an inch or two over the line which would mean that at the maximum circumference the ball would still be in play. Gooooooooooooooooallllllllllll
It looks clearly out but I'll take a bit of luck. I'd be pretty pi55ed off if was scored against us though.
Anybody who complains in future about Ross Turnbull (Not that it is common I might add) should think on that we could have the Port Vale keeper instead. I think they would have been better off putting a wheely bin on the line.
