How does the football we're playing/seeing in this division compare with the football played in the equivalent division 20 years ago?
can't remember ..... been watchin t'mugs 38 year now. what i will say is this season has been dreadful.....and the fact we are not tailed off just emphasizes how bad the rest are too. hth
imho compared to the 2002 - 2006 period, most teams are better than I remember, but Port Vale were doing their best to turn Saturday's game into a Sunday league one. Set of fat clogging *******.
Started watching the Reds in 1978 and can honestly say that in the last 18 months the level of football witnessed has been the worst I have encountered . It really has been Pub League Material Sadly!
If you are comparing with the HUnter/Clarke sides then there is obviously no comparison as we were pretty bloody good in those days (7-0 tonkings away to Reading notwithstanding). If you are comparing to last time we were in the division then other than the promotion year its better stuff.
Did you not go when we last got relegated ? For 2 years we were fecking shocking !!! Far worse than now !
I've seen very few players who'd I'd consider to be good footballers this season. Coppinger, Roberts and Jamie Allen are the only players who've looked a class above in my opinion. I missed MK Dons at home so not sure on the young lad they have there.
We were shocking, but this season really has been the Pits! Rudderless , clueless, all in all Pub League Rubbish
THIS = the worst season in recent history. http://www.soccerbase.com/teams/team.sd?team_id=208&comp_id=3&teamtabs=results&teamTabs=results
I have to disagree with you there. #Although I do take your comments with a pinch of salt as you seem to want to be proved right about Wilson! Or rather you want your son to be proved right about what he was like at Sheff Utd !
Roberts and Allen were the two best opposition players I've seen away this season. The lad Byrne for Swindon and Alli for MK were summat else at Oakwell.
What about 2003/2004 season or 2004/2005 season ? Both worse seasons than this for the football we played, in my opinion anyway. Yes I agree we have been poor this season, but we were worse for a couple of years before we got promoted, last time we were down here !
Although my dad took me in the 1960s, I too count my life as a Reds supporter as starting with the arrival of Clarkie in 1978 and I agree 100%, this is the worst football I've seen since then. At least in that season we had Ally Millar, Alan Little, Phil Chambers, Mick McCarthy, Clarkie, Derek Bell, Brian Joicey, Glyn Riley etc who would easily get into the current team.
Been going since the Jim Iley era, 74-75 when I first started going as a kid with my dad. Difficult to compare but this season has been pretty dire and the standard of football, if not necessarily worse, seems a lot less entertaining, which is surely what it's all about. Players weren't as fit then, but there were players who were skilful and could beat a man...
Worst I've ever seen the last few years, I've only been going since about 89 and thought we'd never be as bad as the 2002 side again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sorry but what a load of **** that is!!!! As regards The Messiah I have put my money where my mouth is in previous posts. Its a win win for me either way All will unfold in the mists of time!
