Hope Ben has got something up his sleeve because his interview does not give me any confidence at all.

Sack Danny now and think about who we can get in later ????? aye Ben cracking idea.

Whoever is involved needs an ex red on the managerial team, a bit of heart and big b*llox is what some players at our club needs because at the minute its dying on its arse.

Too many loan players will get us nowhere in the long run.

Finishing just above the relegation zone this season will see more season ticket holders at Athersley Rec than Jokewell next season.

Judging from that interview, it looks like we might have sacked the wrong bloke.

I think I'm in a minority because even though don't agree with Danny's sacking I can't see what he's said wrong.

I didn't want Danny sacked, but I totally understand why he was. Awful football, mind boggling tactics and woefully under performing on the budget available. Yet another pi$$ poor episode in the recent history of Barnsley Football Club. I bet Flicker & Keef are laughing their ****$ off tonight..

    Where's that fcukin new scoreboard..

I've just listened to it mate and I'm not having a go here at all, but it's a stream of contradictions from start to finish.

He starts off by saying that, from a business point of view (he doesn't explain exactly what that is) Danny had to go. I assume he's talking about money. I'd like someone to explain to me how paying off yet another manager is helpful in that regard, but we'll let that go for a minute. He then says the sacking is because it's a results based industry. Which is it Ben?

Apparently we've got the 4th or 5th highest wage bill, but correct me if I'm wrong, that's nothing to do with the manager, it's the CEO and the board that sort out contracts. If we're over paying players then don't pass the buck to the manager. We were already told earlier in the season Patrick's son was identifying players.

He then says we have the 3rd or 4th highest cash equity injections from an owner and some of the best attendance records and the 5th most season ticket holders. If the club was run properly, if we weren't over spending, we should still be able to compete because we're generating more than most through the turnstiles. He's giving us a list of reasons why he's failing while telling us the manager is sacked. Balance the books Ben and you don't need come on the radio bairning about how much the owner puts in. You've just told us exactly why we don't need it, we're getting the fans through the door. Stop accruing debt and live within our means FFS!

Hang on a minute, I think Ben was bullshitting about attendances earlier because now he's saying people aren't coming any more and that's why Wilson has been sacked. A quick look at the attendances on the official site show that they've remained fairly static throughout the season. There were 8,328 there on Tuesday. 8239 Barnsley fans. Our first midweek league game was in October against Notts County with an attendance of 8596. 8069 Barnsley fans. So fewer than the Fleetwood game.

It's not a knee jerk reaction though because we've played over 20 games now. Over 20. **** me rigid.

Apparently, February is enough time to build the long term plan that was devised in the summer (quality question Andy mate, well done).

We're then told we're going to employ a manager that can bring "Championship football back at Oakwell at the earliest opportunity". But they've got no one in mind, no short list, although they do know the type of manager they want. So, that's OK. Although later he says it's a blank canvas and could include those temporarily in charge, young or old, in work or not. This manager will have to run the club as a business (good), sell players to help run the football club and, as he said earlier, bring Championship football back to Oakwell at the earliest opportunity. The best of British to anyone we bring in. Remember, those players you have to sell while gaining promotion will be paying for the 4th or 5th highest wages in the division with players on contracts you will not be negotiating.

Ben didn't expect to be talking to the players about Flicker never mind Danny. Get used to it Ben lad, it's an annual occupation.

I suspect the confusing nature of his interview is possibly due to the fact that he's explaining someone else's decision, a decision he possibly had little input into. Just a guess like.

    It's Patrick Cryne's club. He's a semi-benevolent dictator.

Certainly don't think you're having a go mate and you've raised some valid points, I'm gutted over the sacking of Danny but I also really like Ben Mansford, I think he comes under some unjustified criticism on occasions so perhaps I was wearing my "Danny" blinkers when listening to Bens interview. It does make you wonder how much he believes in what he's saying.

Triffic post. I was thinking the same when listening. Contradictions galore, spin doctoring of the highest order and mundane ****** coated in glittery big words, cliches and management speak.
