What does he actually do? I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him, and I've got a bad back at the moment.
Agreed. We've spiralled downhill since he's joined, if anyone should have been sacked today it should have been him.
Look at the additional sponsorship which was badly needed with the drop last season. Could you see the Don getting that in? I think some of the players we have acquired were not influenced by his salesmanship. Additionally how many people who were criticising Wilsom for withdrawing Hourihane, playing the system he did on Tuesday, are now crying because he has been given the boot?
It's not just Mansford though is it? Do you think he has made this decision independently of the owner? Think the wording of the statement will tell you everything you need to know on that one. I didn't want to see Danny go. I can see why he has. Just about everything he's tried hasn't worked out. And what has has been curtailed by injuries, loss of form or loss of players. To be fair, with all the sackings in recent years I've never thought the board has had a choice. This time they did, they could have left Danny in place but didn't. With that they have revealed their hand, short term failure cannot be tolerated. At the end of the day if that's what they want to be delivered, they as stewards of the club making the key managerial and financial decisions have to be held accountable for that being delivered. So, I can understand why Wilson has gone. But if the next guy doesn't deliver my finger won't be pointing at whichever schmuck has inhereted the reigns, but further up the food chain. They've made a massive decision here and it's one they'll need to be held accountable for.
Listening to Mansford tonight on Dee dah made me more angry than I was earlier and I was proper pissed off earlier. Basically said the decision was made on short term statistical comparisons with no recognition of the notion that we were in a rebuilding process and that they recognised that it is not all plain sailing. I heard nothing that made me think we wont be here again in another 10 months time. Feel like giving up - what's the point? Thanks for trying Danny and sorry that in the end it proved to be the case that you were working for a bunch of short termist Muppets.
Exactly. People don't understand that we weren't going up this year. And a bad spell, not helped by out of form players and injuries, is a short term blip. Danny would have got it right. With almost everything going against him he still had us as close to playoffs as relegation. Absolute joke decision. However I don't think Ben would have fired the gun. That would be Paddy and his son. I think his son has found some up and coming manager on FM2015 who he thinks has potential. Everything that's wrong with football summed up in this one stupid day. Good luck Danny and thanks for the memories. Sorry you've been royally shafted from above.
Not sure why Mansford is attracting criticism, he isn't really at fault for any of the main concerns at BFC today or recently. He didn't sack Wilson, the owner will have done. Mansford won't pick every player to sign, nor formulate the tactics or game plans. He's the mouth-piece, PR man, wheeled out to explain away the many debacles at the club since he's been here. He comes across quite well to me, even if today's muddled statement left more questions than answers. I'd venture to say that he is an asset, and certainly not to blame for the current mess.
Totally. In any other walk of life it's the person at the top that gets grief. And it's about time he did
Don't think Mansford responsible for off field commercial activity. Think these developments are down to The New commercial guy Linton Brown?
Sadly you are wrong. The person at the top seems to largely get away with it. In football especially so. And so he should. For he supplies you with your fix. And in our case the benefactor has supplied more of the funds to try and satisfy you, post acquittal. Whichever way you look at it, his return has been meagre, and looked likely to be leaner still. But abuse the hand that feeds you by all means.
When the team wins games everyone we don't care who the CEO is. When we're losing, everyone thinks he's ****. Win a few and the Rev will stop calling him Jase and move on.
Accountable to who though? They own it, it's their toy, they can do what they want and are only accountable to themselves. If what they do happens to work then they're seen as being great, saviours etc. and people get on board, if it doesn't they're seen as being useless to55ers etc. and people get the monk on thinking their £300 has made a difference.
No fans no club simple as that just because we are not organised doesn't mean we don't have power. So the £300 quid is crucial.
