If the rumour is true that Patrick's son is involved in transfer activity at the club and giving the manager a list of players that are worth buying due to their stats (ie Hourihane most assists and goals from a midfielder in L2) then you are as much if not more to blame for the current predicament than anyone else. I can't help believe that this has been the case. With Mansford replying to the rumour by saying that they have been signed with Danny's "blessing". This doesn't suggest that Wilson was in complete control of team affairs. Any appointment should in my eyes be given complete control of team affairs. Something has gone amiss this season as things just don't add up. This club is slowly becoming a shambles and its about time that we got some honesty from the powers that be instead of filling our CEO with a statement full of bullsh1t.
Sorry, I don't believe that one bit. You've just posted your own speculation on what you admit is a rumour and you seem to have convinced yourself its true. Seriously? I know we are all ticked off, but lets not try to spin our own stories, its bad enough coming from the club.
Didn't Ben mansford confirm the rumour that James cryne has been involved with identifying targets which Wilson then gave his blessing to us signing?
He said they tried to approach recruitment with a more scientific approach. He's also confirmed that it was just another tool to aid the manager and not something that drove the manager's decision on who we did and didn't buy.
What we've done is no different to what any clubs do It's called a scouting system. Its just a more modern and efficient way of scouting players. Once identify these players are then watched like any other player would be. If they look good enough Danny has signed them.
A little bit and I can't really remember the exact details but he also explained how it didn't work which is this idea that Patrick's son came up with a list of targets football manager stylee and Patrick and Ben went out and bought them without input from Danny. My impression is that Mr Cryne's son provided statistical support to the manager to provide additional insight into the players of interest to him. Of course, as we know, rumours become fact!
I don't know but I do seem to remember there was talk of getting a head of recruitment in which I guess is the modern day equivalent. No idea what came of that.
Right, because it (to me ) appears to be getting muddled here - does young Cryne scout or just assess data ? Or is he learning this whilst doing some coaching badges or something ? Because would this influence the next choice of manager ? ie one who is happy with this possible scenario ?
He didn't explain to me at the Trust AGM when I pushed him on it. Or he made it as clear as mud. All he would confirm is that no one was signed without the blessing of Danny. That's very different to Danny identifying his own players.
danny was paid to manage the football team, maybe he was actually ok with this system, lets not let half truths heard down the pub get in the way of a witch hunt though
I thought he was a University student and was providing some statistical support (Is he doing medicine or is my memory playing tricks?). Haven't heard it suggested that he's somehow involved in scouting. I'd be a little surprised if the the board are bringing in players without the managers blessing. They've been down this road before and it didn't end well. Don told me a while ago that after El Haimour, or whatever he was called, they learned their lesson and wouldn't be doing that again.
Dunno pal, jut pondering but surely you'd let the football people do football ? In the absence of all other factors.
I don't think anyone is suggesting that are they? They're just a bit confused as to what extent Mr Cryne's son is involved. So am I, having heard what has come from the club. It sounded to me pretty much like what the OP has said, ie Mr Cryne's son was one of those identifying players and the manager would give his blessing on some of those he identified. I don't know if that's true or not, but that was the impression I got. But, like Dyson says, it was about as clear as mud.
I agree. If it was anything other than providing statistical support to Danny it was bloody madness but thats my impression from what I've heard.
