Im just checking as none of the usuals have started 10 threads after a defeat yet. christ on a bike what a shambles at the football club we all love. Patrick has some serious questions that he needs to answer for himself and then deliver to the fans and not through his mouthpiece mansford. What has gone on this week is a total joke. It is embarrasing and it makes a mockery of the fans, who will be here long after they all have departed. We know we arent going towin every game, even though i somehow still expect us to, we arent going to play the best football but when 11 players step out onto the pitch and represent us, our town and our football club they can at least look like they ****ing give a toss
It's mainly Wilson's team. But he's done no worse than the last two managers - it's just that we expected so, so much more.
The progress starts with the new manager sorting the mess that Wilson has left us in. His team his tactics .
So h selected the team and the tactics seems weird given that we sacked him. People got what they wanted. Let's see what happens.
Flitcroft has had the blame for pretty much every bad result we had under Wilson, certainly in last season's championship campaign - so shedding Wilson of all blame would be fairly hypocritical. A lot of people need blame - none more so than some of the utterly spineless players. That's what we've learned today. There should be no point scoring amongst fans here - we all want the same thing & none of us are getting it. The club feels toxic at the moment. We have no idea what would have happened today with Danny in charge. What we do know is that whoever takes over has a hell of a job to do to fix the mess that we are in before we sink even lower. Wilson was in charge for the run of 6 consecutive away defeats. He knew how terrible we were and that's why he played such a defensive line up at Swindon. At Crawley he would have done the same and try to grind out a result, but most probably would have lost again... Burton clearly thought we had decent players and could compete on an equal footing with a team that had won 1 of the previous 18 games. How wrong he was...
He was also in charge when we lost only 2 of our first 8 away games !. Plus we had won 4 on the bounce at home too, before Tuesday obviously !
From the outside it looks like a team extremely short of confidence both individually and as a unit. What's worrying is that sacking a manager brings about some sort of improvement, if only in terms of effort and application. Edit: should have said during away games where we're clearly struggling. Mr Cryne needs to be heard from and sharpish. He can't keep hiding behind his CEO and fans punch bag.
I think anyone expecting a fantastic swashbuckling season this year need their heads seeing to. There has not been many teams coming down into this league that have gone straight back up ! Last season Bristol City were shocking(with the largest budget in the league by far),yet after a season of consolidation they are pissing the league this year ! This is what I was expecting from Barnsley.
It's easy to say it's Wilson's team as if to blame him but that same team has never put in a performance as bad as today. If anything that strengthens the case to keep him
Donny went straight back up and are looking good again now after a slow start. Wasn't expecting promotion but was expecting some entertainment at least. Accepting utter dross with little sign it will improve is utter madness for me...
Mmmmm...well DW had 15 months to produce the crap we experienced at home against Fleetwood. Burton had 2 days.
Ok thats 1,how many more ? You can find 1 or 2 examples to go against any argument, but no matter how hard you look, you will find that the vast majority of teams that get relegated struggle thenext season then kick on the year after, unless it is Blades then they struggle for a few years.
