Yes, obviously with tongue firmly in cheek, but when was the last time we played a league game in front of only 2,296 (and over 400 of those were our fans). That, for me, illustrates how low we have sunk and the sinking isn't over yet. I don't think some of our big time charlies will have liked that - playing in a non league ground in front of so few. I'm thinking of the likes of Lita, Cranie, Nyatanga and Turnbull who have all played at a higher level and still consider themselves good players. Well as the keeper has played in some games he doesn't escape criticism for many reasons, but behind a defence like ours who could blame him for a few howlers? No point repeating what others have said but I will just add one thing. Plenty are saying they have never seen such a poor Barnsley team. I could understand that coming from those who have been going for less than 20 years but to hear it from some who say they have been going 50 years doesn't ring true. The dark days of the 60s and 70s were far, FAR worse than this. I hoped we would never return to those bleak times. We are not there yet, but we are looking over the horizon at that terrible place that we once were in.
Remember as well that four days ago we lost at home to a team who brought 89 fans for a 2 hour trip, even when their coach travel only cost £7.50. Our squad is chock full of lazy, arrogant, spineless wastes of oxygen and I don't think the best will in the world could motivate them. We are knackered this season.
Yes, thinking back to Tuesday not sure what is worse; hearing four or five thousand ecstatic away fans in the North Stand celebrating a win or hearing 89 singing and shouting above our funereal following.
And all our fans were in a glorified tent temporary stand with a canvas roof and poles keeping the roof up blocking the view.
That's shocking, and even more of an insult than the ones the players dished out en masse. The ground looks quite tidy on the television - small, obviously but not bad enough to subject away fans to that. Presume they have knocked a stand down and that was the temporary solution?
Yes it was a temporary stand and not quite as bad as I am making out. But it was basically temporary seating in a long gazebo the view wasn't too bad though as the supporting poles were fairly thin
This will sound a bit silly but I only really considered going today because it was an old terrace and would be a novelty. Couldn't go because of work anyway but I'm even more glad now! Sitting in that marquee of a stand must have been depressing.
