What's Mansford got to do with anything? He's a spokesman for the board. In his interview he said 'Patrick & the board have come to this decision'. Why not blame the person responsible for the ******** rather than the person that delivers the ******** to you?
There are no guarantees of that And anyway, it's heading for the conference as this decline seems terminal
So what's the way forward? I think even we can agree that this state of affairs can't continue ad infinitum?
And what a sad state of affairs it is that one man has managed to gain and retain so much power. Owns the club and as you say can do owt he wants with it and then he owns (50% of) the land too which was separated from the club. That's just not right for me. Not right at all.
John Dennis always said that a Club owned effectively by one person was subject to more turmoil than the model that applied pre-admin. He summed it up by saying that one morning the owner could wake up and say I don't want to go to Oakwell today and from there it was one short step to questioning why you went at all. Patrick is a Barnsley fan. He used his wealth to stabilise the Club and would like to see the Club run as a standalone business. I'm not sure that business model works in football which still largely depends on wealthy individuals throwing daft money at it to buy success. The vision we were sold at the beginning of this season of us growing our own talent and being 'Crewe-like' reasonably self-sustainable almost seems at odds with the scenario that was used to justify Danny's dismissal.
