and then get the job. when I heard his interview on Saturday I was impressed by his honesty and, for us, outspoken reaction to the performance. If he can force this kind of thinking down the necks of the players then we might have a winner there..... BUT only if the primadonnas have the stomach to hear what he has to tell them. It will not be pretty. Some of them are no doubt so far up their own arses that they wouldn't even listen to God but a dose of reality might just get their feet back to earth. It might be the cheap and cheerful way out but does it have to be a bank breaking appointment, someone who has to start all over again, and mainly someone who would likely be treading on eggshells afraid of upsetting players he doesn't yet know. I was glad that Ben Mansford did acknowledge Burton's comments this morning on Radio Sheff. as well as "apologising" for his maybe incorrect usage of the "business" word last week. He said the refund was justified, that Burton was correct, and he was full of apologies to the fans. Good. I do not know anything about Burton, his methods, training, skills etc but if he is the man to stuff it up our lot then good on him.
I think you might be too late - couple of mistakes yesterday in selection - Cranie and Nyatanga were a disastrous centre half pairing and Crawleys approach cried out for MVoto to have started Taking off Smith for MVoto and moving Nyatanga to left back was bizarre - although it proved an even worse idea than I thought at the time. A lot of the players didnt seem to want to play for him - thats as much a criticism of the players as Burton but I don't think he will be afforded the time to move them on and get his replacements in -
I'm very much hoping we'll have a new man in place before Saturday. Burton may be a very good Academy coach, but he lacks the experience for the job. I expect to see someone with equal, or preferably better credentials than Danny - otherwise there are big questions to answer. Burton should go back to what he does so well with the youngsters.
Seems a nice guy & with him been local I'd love to see him do well but I don't think I could cope with someone as manager who says 'yeah' after everything he says
Not sure how someone can gain the necessary experience without someone giving them a go. Agree about all the 'yeahs' but the poor lad was probably nervous
Especially when we've just got rid of Wilson with his love of saying "at this moment in time". Bad enough listening to Steve Evans on Radio Sheffield with his "errr" and sounding out of breathe on every sentence like they have asked him for an interview as soon as he's just finished running a marathon.
No mate I'm too young for him. Just heard Burton's interview Saturday & the habit of saying 'yeah' after everything he said was driving me mad after only 5 mins of it so God knows how annoying it'd be twice a week
Glad I wasn't the only one who picked that up. I thought it was the long coach trip playing tricks on me haha
I always find the "as I've said" phrase that players and managers use funny as they've normally not actually said it before. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
For me, i need to see what sort of reaction he gets from the players on Saturday before deciding. Thats if he is still in charge then, of course. If he gets a good reaction, we play well and win the game, then i'd be happy to see how it goes with him and Heckingbottom for a few games. If we come out and play like crap again, then he clearly isn't the guy for the job and a decision will need to be made. Team selection, performance and result all massively important on Saturday if he wants to be a serious contender to take them forward.
But his team selection last Saturday was awful, left us totally open to Crawleys land of the giants players
