June - well next season can't be as bad, we've cleared the deadwood and made some good signings. Admittedly, I've never heard of most of them, but that new striker used to be good 7 or 8 years ago, so he should get 25 goals at this level.

July - don't read anything into pre-season friendlies. Anyway, Frickley have splashed some money this summer.

August - it is an improvement on last season, Jennings made it to the second half before getting sent off.

September - I'm sure results will improve when the three players we signed who were injured get back to full fitness and we stop playing the guy who scored 47 goals last season as a wing back.

October - it's too early to start judging them, cos the league doesn't take shape until after Christmas.

November - if we carry on playing like this he won't make it to Christmas.

December - well, we can concentrate on the league now. We're actually only four wins off the play offs, so it is quite a tight league.

January - if we were going to sell our top scorer/best player why did we wait till deadline day. When does the loan market reopen?

February - Sky Bet has Alan Curbishley, Steve McClaren and Glen Hoddle as the favourites. Personally, I'd be happy with any one of those, or Mick McCarthy or Jose Mourinho.

March - no, this new guy is definitely the best man for the job. After all, he did manage to get York City to the brink of the play offs.

April - so if we win our last 6 matches by three goals each, Crewe only get a point at Oldham, Donny lose by 12 at Bristol City and Notts County field an ineligible player in each of their last four matches we're safe.

May - I told you we'd stay up!!! You have to feel for the Notts County fans though. Who'd have thought they'd have gone into administration at half-time on the last day of the season? Particularly with us 4-0 down. But at least it gives us something to build on for next season.

    And repeat...

Not far off. Despair, anguish, disbelief, anger, bafflement and an absolute minimum of joy is the sum of pretty much every one of our seasons since 05/06.

Dont forget the large dollop of excuses. Made me laugh in the first game of the season when we were told that we lost because of all the new players we had, yet Crawley had just as many new players. Footballs version of ******** bingo.
