That was a plan? ditch the tactics that had been so successful, sign up players who obviously were out of their depth.. great plan
He had an obvious plan in his first 5 month. It was successful. He failed in his full season. Wilson failed in both. Showing no signs of ever being able to implement his style of play on the players. He appeared clueless throughout.
i dont think he had a plan at all, we were in the brown and smelly stuff, it was backs to wall and do or die. the planning commenced once we stayed up, and what a balls up that was. As for Danny we've gone over this a million times in the last few days, the so called style of play was alright when we were beating bradford and the like earlier this season, but as football is a short term game some fans choose to emply a short term outlook and memory
Of course it is. Read the article, all it talks about is how him from the band likedmwilson from the first time round, how sentiments he is about it etc **** the first time round? He was **** this time. If we were keeping people because they were alright first time then nardiello wouodmstill be our first choice striker. Its also interesting that Wilson didn't think we had a chance of staying up when he took over. We were never staying up if the new manager had basically given up before he started
Wilson hasn't failed. Not for me. I expected mid table, perhaps a playoff push. I've no idea whether he'd have achieved it, because we've sacked him already. 6 months to build something? I feel for the next bloke, I really do.
Wilson hasn't failed, He has failed Miserably !! 12 months in the job and the club are in even more in the mire thanks to the Turkeys he signed. The next bloke will have a clean slate and will be amply rewarded for taking the job. Football is a cut throat business and always will be . Get used to it
I expected the same. Read my post throughout this season. I've never once wanted Wilson out. But that's not because I thought Danny was doing a good job. It's because I'm sick of sacking manager after manager. That being said the job he did was simply not good enough. I was at the ST forum before the season started. Danny said he wanted top 6 minimum. And he emphasied the minimum. He wasn't even reaching his own targets. He wasn't reaching the board or the supporters targets either. That being improving and progressing our young talent. Hourihane, Jennings, Berry, Cole and Bailey all seemed to get gradually worse under Dannys guidance. As well as failure to get the best out of some of our more experienced players.
I think all three were stubborn to the point of failure. I have to disagree with your assessment of Danny. To my eyes, he was obsessed with a narrow diamond (despite not having the personnel to play it).
Can't disagree with any of that. But I expected things to pick up over the next few weeks. Especially once Winnall returned. Could have still made the playoffs. I suppose we still could. Funny old game.
Winnall's injury is probably the biggest factor in our current woes. Danny would probably still have a job if that lad had stayed fit.
It was always going to be a blow. And none of the other strikers (all Danny's recruits) stepped up. See, I can be critical.
To be fair, Danny can't take all the flak for the terrible signings. The board or lack of it have to take some of the blame too, especially if this spreadsheet thing is correct. What we need is a proper scouting system set up. I'm pretty certain that had Danny had one at his disposal we would have had better players coming through the door.
I can be patient if there's a Light at the end of the Tunnel. Wilson turned the lights all off on his return to the club.
I agree that there was no reason to sack Danny based on the likelihood that we may get relegated. That would never have happened. In fact I'd say we're more likely to get relegated now than we were under Danny. But at the same time I think a new man could give us more progress than Danny ever would have. I'll never know for sure (obviously). But I honestly don't think Danny would have achieved anymore than a failed playoff push at Barnsley. Even with a 2-3 year crack at it.
