article from Swindonlinksport SWINDON Town have this morning turned down an approach from Barnsley for manager Mark Cooper. Last night, chairman Lee Power told Link Sport he had yet to be contacted by the Tykes, who are looking for a replacement for Danny Wilson, despite a report in the Daily Mail suggesting an official approach had been made. Club officials arrived at work this morning, however, to an email from the Oakwell outfit asking to speak to the Robins boss about the possibility of taking over at the South Yorkshire club – a request which was quickly rejected. Link Sport understands that Cooper himself would have turned down the opportunity to speak to Barnsley, regardless of whether or not the approach was accepted.
Why the he'll are we trying to poach a manager from another club? Plenty of candidates out of work who fit the bill without going down this route.
So, we approach another club for their manager and its doom and gloom, whilst some on here only want us to employ an out of work, failed at another club manager! I do feel sorry for ben and co because whatever they do its wrong. ..
The fact another manager wont be first choice shouldn't matter to whoever comes in. The fact they are approaching a manager in a job at a club at the top of the same division seems overly ambitious, unless of course he's said he's intimated he's interested and will now hand in his resignation. I'd be surprised, but hey - football is weird.
This. Surely approaching a club for a manager shows more ambition than going for a failed manager who is out of work. I will take Adkins or Rosler if we get one of them, or anyone else out of work but i'd love to see Cooper here! He's what we wanted from Wilson, but Wilson failed to deliver.
For a formal approach it will have to be in writing, and email is much quicker than a letter. Somehow I don't think that txting will work
