The approach for Cooper is laughable.

Agree. Bonkers. Having said they're going to do all their business in private and then to approach a club for a manager already in work is stupid, especially one challenging for promotion in the same division as us. Not a chance of him coming here. Totally daft.

I don't know, I think we are underestimating quite how much money Cryne has, he's just choosing not to invest at the moment. Maybe something has happened to trigger that investment, maybe it's all a mind-game to get us in the papers. Either way, I see nothing negative about this move and we'd be moaning if nothing were happening...

I'd prefer to hear nothing until a quality appointment is announced later this week.

Getting rejected to even speak to a manager at this stage does nothing but worry me.

To be fair, they're not responsible if someone else leaks the story.

We might have earned a few quid in a back hander, and the promise of a very good young in on loan, for our approach, not so bonkers then is it

It was always going to be leaked, surely they know that...

We only hear about the ones that are leaked.

I agree to some extent unless they were confident of getting their man in which case they would have no alternative.

My main issue is that we were likely to get shunned in this instance and this become public knowledge. if you were another potential target you will always know you were not the first choice.

Only way to deflect this is to make some statement that they have approached a number of managers / clubs with a view to speaking to them about the position, therefore not revealing who may have been their number one target.

Doesn't necessarily mean he is first choice. we have only asked for permission to speak to him, we may have asked permission of a couple of managers + may also be interviewing out of work managers.

also I dont think a manager would really give a **** if he was second, third or forth choice if he actually wants a job

It's just crass. The whole Butcher, O'Dismal thing a few years back should have taught us a lesson. FFS, Barnsley, have a bit of class for a change...

Thats what I'm trying to say. Fair enough if that is the case but really once other clubs start making public our approaches, BFC should release some sort of statement to clarify the situation. It's just good PR..

Just something along the lines of.. Yes an approach has been made to speak to a number of managers in order to get the best man fo the job..

Cooper is probably the sort of manager we ought to be looking at. Young, up and coming, doing well with very little.

Swindon's rejection means little if Cooper himself fancies it. Does he? Time will tell.

We've tried that route before with Keith and prior to that, Robins. Third time lucky?

Whoever gets it - within reason - will have my full support. I hope the board support him similarly.

The top 4 or 5 in this division weren't rebuilt overnight. Took them longer than 6 months, a lot longer in some cases. So I will once again urge for patience. However, some of those clubs have changed manager during the rebuild. Food for thought.

I don't see this move as embarrassing. Can see why others might.

    You Reds.

I think you will see when this years accounts are published that he has "invested" a significant amount this season

Is that an investment to cover the championship wages we still have to pay of for new players?

    Or just pay offs?

Probably all of the above now Danny has been sacked. No idea how this is looked at from a budgetary point of view:
