Just listened to his interview on audioboo pre-Crewe and I've got to say I liked what he had to say again just as I did post-Crawley! Talks with passion and genuinely wants barnsley to succeed! He also seems genuinely honoured to do the job! Now I admit he wasn't my first choice but I think id be happy with him instead of paying for another clubs young inexperienced manager who unsure about coming! Thoughts?
Did not see your post before I posted my new thread. I am of the same mind, he seems to talk sense and has respect of players, which counts for a lot.
It is well known that players and people, particularly the younger lads have a lot of respect for him. You only have to listen to him to see he knows how to lift these lads. Talks to them individually. Hope he does well.
He grew up on the same street as me in dodworth so im told, so i would be keen for him to do well. But i think we need to go a different direction than mr burton. Think were better off keeping him in the academy where he seems to be doing a decent job.
I have to agree after listening to Mark Burton's interview on Barnsley Player he speaks with passion and from the heart about a club (his club) he genuinely cares for. He makes perfect sense and speaks well, he expects hard work on the training pitch giving players clear direction on what is expected from them to prepare them for the upcoming match, he listens to learn from everyone to ensure the club moves forward, he expects passion and dare I say endeavour on the pitch, he wants leaders to lead by example and set the tone for everyone to follow. Lets see on Saturday what a difference if any this has, I hope he does well, sounds like a top bloke.
Not true. In the first half we were well on top, with players responding very well to his ideas and instructions. Individual clangers gave Crawley their win. NOT a lack of respect for Burton. I hope he gets the job.
Again that didn't seem much in evidence on Saturday or maybe not so much with the senior pros? Mark has finally got the Academy working well and I'd hate to see him out of a job by Christmas.
I wouldn't give it him, certainly not off the back of those two press duty interviews. But I'd back him if appointed, and to be fair, we do oreight now and again when promoting from within.
