i would suggest the only senile thing he has done is to plough his millions into his hometown club to keep it afloat so pillocks like you can have a pop at him
I have not once had a pop at Cryne in all his years of propping up the club. This (now deleted) comment is related to one thing and one thing only "we didn't know how good John Stones really was". I'm sorry if you don't think a statement like that should at least be questioned. I do.
As someone who was there, Patrick Cryne clearly said that was the main thing that everyone should be criticising the club for. But if you take the story he gave at face value, he asked Rowing et al to go and get the opinion of people at the club and they could give him no information on how good John Stones was. He added that Flitcroft didn't speak of him that highly either (& Flitcroft coming out afterwards making out like he was 'numb' about it means nothing, let's face it). It's not Patrick's job to know how amazing the players are - that's the responsibility of the people that work with those players day in & day out --- and they couldn't tell him? Cryne should certainly take his share of the blame for sanctioning it but the bigger portion lies with the people working around the pkaying staff that have consistently let him down. It's clear that Cryne knows very little about football and was very poorly advised by those at the club. The big worry is that things don't appear to have changed much, giving me very little confidence going forward. Mansford gives you a bit more of substance but seems obsessed by the finances in every answer he gives. They desperately need help on the board and I'm not convinced Watkins is the answer. They've put the 'scoring' system in place, but surely you need people with the ability to spot a talented footballer instinctively rather than a mathematical formula...
And I suppose we can only hope that the new manager we get is the one that can do that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Am i missing something or as you say the staff around him should have known how good he was, yet we've just put the academy manager in charge of the 1st team??
It would have been Ronnie Branson at the time wouldn't it? I'm not sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It beggars belief that the staff of the club couldn't tell how good he was. I am astounded by it I really am.
You maybe right but burton has been at the club in some degree for a long time, it just seems the clubs a shambles from top to bottom at the moment
I'd always assumed that Cryne was as avid a football fan as myself. Maybe he isn't. He should have the same gut instinct as me for a young player otherwise and I'm rarely wrong. I can only recall David Speedie achieving more than I thought he would. You didn't even need that gut instinct for John Stones though.
Wasn't he in the midst of his court case/ill health at that time? Genuinely asking, not sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think he was mate,I'm sure I saw it mentioned that Cryne had been too ill to attend games both home and away due to illness.
Just a reference to hignett i used to sit in east stand lower and a chap used to shout higgybaby at the top of his voice every time hignett got the ball still makes me smile now
im pretty sure he said asked DR directly who Stones was and was he any good. No mention of going and getting the info from anyone else - which is why i asked what the manager has said when he asked him.
