The Supporter's Trust have asked to see some clarification of that. Ben was off to find out if he could let us have this info due to NDAs in place with the SYP. I assume with all that's happened in the last week or so that isn't exactly his priority.

Non disclosure agreements on figures that should be a matter of public record .

It's worth pointing out that whatever is in one year's accounts for transfer fees may not paint the full picture of what was received for individual players. Deals are often structured into two payments, one initially and another a year later. eg. A straight £2m transfer fee might be paid £1.5m straight away, 500k a year later. Then there might be add ons on top of that, eg. Dale still benefitted from Rickie Lambert eight years after he left the club.

Don't think they have been published yet. Think we've tried to get hold of them although we were looking at an information request thingy

In terms of fan behaviour, he did mention that they had to stop the Barnsley Sunday league finals from happening at Oakwell anymore due to youths trying to set fire to the West Stand.

actually thats exactly what you do. you keep hold of your player until it becomes near impossible to fit enough scouts in the boardroom. you keep hold of your player until every god damn club in the country know he's a special talent. you keep hold of your player until at least some of these clubs are willing to pay big money to beat the other clubs to his signature. and when all that happens you hold your nerve and make sure you drive a hard bargain. something thats done by 90% of the others but we as a club are unable to do.

Just because accounts didn't show a lot coming in straight away didnt mean we didn't get much. Its common practice to pay in installments so some could have come after the accounting period ended

In accountancy, there is a principle known as accruals. According to this principle, the full value of a transaction is recorded in the accounting period it happens and the amount that remains unpaid is recorded under Debtors and Prepayments on the Balance Sheet. The figure for Debtors and Prepayments did indeed increase as at 31 May 2013 by a substantial amount, which suggests that part of the Stones fee did indeed remain to be paid as at that date, but the whole of the fee, other than that which is dependent upon a future event, would have been recorded in the P&L Account for the year in question.

I totally agree with your sensible assessment in paragraphs one and two. As for Cryne's commitment, I believe he loves to club passionately, as many on this board do. However, at this time in his life he wants to relax and enjoy it as a fan, without the business worries. The problem is that no one has come forward to whom he believes he can hand the reigns, so he will continue as the trustee until that time. As for Ben's comment, I believe he is only stating what we all know, that Barnsley is a selling club. We survive by finding and grooming young talent and selling them on. The goal though should be to have a constant conveyor belt of young talent, so that we sell some and retain others (for a while). Currently we unearth one jewel every few years and sell them below market value. This has a big impact on the current team, which the conveyor belt approach would not. I think we are slowly getting there with the Academy.
