Than Paolo Di Canio. He is all ego, all mouth, seemingly without the capacity to ever admit he is in the wrong. A confrontational nasty man who thinks he is Gods gift and has never heard of compromise. And people though Hill was too arrogant. What the hell would Rimmo make of him?! All this is without even touching on the fascism issue. The tragedy is that a section of our support would rally behind this and glorify any far right heritage he has. We'd potentially turn into the new Millwall with scenes like those on the Paris Metro this week probably whipped up. I hope it wouldn't happen, but it's a sickening possibility. For all those saying 'he'd take no prisoners and give the players a boot up the arse', well I think thats ********. His relationship with the players was so bad that Sunderland made an official complaint to the chairman and requested he be replaced. The things said by the Sunderland hierarchy about him make a mockery of any idea of him as a professional, competent coach. And then of course there are the Wednesday connections. I should have though he'd be an eternal villain for Reds fans after how he acted in the Prem season. To go from a club with a loved, experienced legend and decent man at the helm, with a squad of promising young players developing for the future to, well, a circus conducted by a nutter from the far right is so absurd that I can't quite take it in. Surely it's all just rumour, and the club couldn't make such a divisive move, when fan.morale is already at is lowest in over a decade?
Given what Patrick said last night seems unlikely as he said we were aiming to sign a manager already having success with a team who play in an entertaining way.
V good post that. But come on. It's so boring down at Oakwell. People can't even be bothered to stand and cheer when we score. It wouldn't be boring with Di Canio in charge. Let's take a chance. It might back fire but really could it get much worse. TBH I don't think people would be that fussed if we went down again basically because we've had the life kicked out of us for so long.
It's got to just be talk, hasn't it? Even BFC aren't capable of such a monumental **** up. I reckon there'd be a vast number of fans stop going to Oakwell if it is Di Canio.
Listening to Cryne, he was obviously p1ssed off that the squad appeared to be unmotivated. You can see how the thought process moved to PdC to rectify this.
... Johnson then. Can't say I'd be at all excited or confident with that but I'm sure the majority would give him a chance.
Could be a Cryne masterstroke so folk think 'thank ****' rather than 'how dull' when it's Johnson. Or Paolo himself getting his name in the papers.
I think Mark Cooper is definitely who he wanted but as that was clearly a no go I wouldn't be surprised at Johnson. Like you say most people would shrug the shoulders but support him.
I'm guessing the problem for some of the better candidates will be the rolling contract .I'd want 3 or 4 yrs fixed given Pats record of sacking
can't honestly believe it would be PdC for all the reasons you have said above. It is truly absurd that it is even alledegly being considered. But then again, Lee Johnson is just uninspiring as a replacement name and all the people at the top of the wish list are miles off the radar as was always going to be the case. I am so bored at oakwell these days i almost dont care who gets it.
