Ah, but as we have since found out, had we been prepared to wait a few weeks we had David Moyes lined up, but he wanted to see the season through with Preston to the end of the play offs.
Re: Think it out fella "I've seen the history books. What history?" Hardly inspiring. What a fecking tosspot that bloke was. Most of our appointments from Allan Clarke onwards were decent/ambitious apart from Danny (first time) until we brought Ritchie then Davey in.
Re: Think it out fella He was until he started calling us cnuts and blaming the fans for everything. All downhill from there.
Re: Think it out fella He was doing that (not quite as literal, mind) when we were winning, to be fair.
Re: Think it out fella People seem to be more tolerant when results are positive although I do remember that even when we were winning he had a lot of critics on here.
True, I for one was convinced he was going to be the one. Had done well, albeit briefly, elsewhere and appeared an innovative, tactically astute young manager. Then he signed Peter Sand et al. Wednesday debacle still one of worst performances I've ever seen. Loved Mel Machin and Andy Ritchie but take the point that we're long over due a bit of excitement. Enter Paolo DI Canio?
Well I am sure I am not the only one but I was inspired when we re-appointed Wilson last December. I was proper thrilled at the time and even broke my own rule on the maximum I'll pay for away games to pay the silly prices that Leeds charge. It wasn't just that it was Wilson, it was that he seemed to fit into the plan they were talking about and I was prepared to sit back and wait for the plan to come to pass knowing that we were finally being run on the basis of a vision. Sadly, it hasn't worked out like that. I am still gutted about it.
Should have prefaced my view with the given that was Wilson's second coming. The elation I felt at that matched by the devastation of his unceremonious and unwarranted departure. That done we are where we are and, in my view, desperately in need of an inspirational appointment.
Re: Think it out fella top bloke was Bassett,i met him at the player of the year awards at Ardsley house, him and Stan Boardman in the same neet sat at our table with us having a laugh, great times that havnt materialised since. big mistake sacking basset, its been downhill ever since.
Re: Think it out fella Same as always with BFC - we ripped the heart out of the team. Higgy was a massive loss
