Other prospective candidates were approached. Some of those that appeared popular in the eyes of the supporters qualified themselves out from consideration by seeking higher ranked coaching opportunities. What does that mean? Can anyone translate it for me because I've no idea what they're talking about.
I take it as meaning they wanted to be manager and in complete control of the first team including all signings but were only offered head coach in charge of training and match day affairs. The question now is who is in charge of recruitment? I can't help but think of James cryne again to be honest
The statement also confirms we spoke to "A small number of candidates", which suggest the Di Canio rumour was likely true and that we probably did speak to the Swindon bloke, but Johnson came out on top during interviews.
That's what it sounded like to me too I guess, but it's about as clear as mud. Don't we have a manager any more then?
In the press conference Ben Mansford says Lee will be in charge of all football matters. The above statement from the web site says other candidates were seeking higher ranked coaching opportunities and were therefore unsuitable. How do you get higher ranked than being in charge of all football matters? Did the others want to be King or God or summat?
Made me think Now you said that. I pretty much thought higher ranked meaning bigger and higher than Barnsley. But maybe you have a point.
Gotcha. I didn't understand what they meant. They wanted to go to a bigger club. Why didn't they just say that? That's not the board's fault.
But its positioning in the statement doesn't read like that. To me it reads as 'we interviewed loads of people but the popular choices wanted higher ranked jobs' which would imply they were interviewed but turned it down. If I had no intention of working for Barnsley I wouldn't go for an interview I'm sure it doesn't actually mean that at all and means exactly what you said but I reckon that's why there is confusion
Nah, I think you're right. It was me who got confused. I wish they'd use plain English. Half of the time I haven't a clue what they're talking about. "qualified themselves out from consideration" WTF? Didn't want the ******* job you silly b'stards.
well I applied who did not... seemed easier than working get a job ... go for a year or so ,get sacked and then get a massive pay off... who the hell would not apply for that. I already have my CV in place ready to post for this coming Christmas.... just wondering where Lee is gonna end up on New years eve... not 100% sure It will be at Oakwell.
Re: well I applied A year or so? Confident in your own abilities aren't you. I'd last a couple of weeks. Well if there was an international break I would
Verbiage. Don't people rule themselves out of contention anymore? At least cliches convey their meaning.
