    Excellent player was Gordon

Quick and skillful, I remember him playing against us for Cardiff before we signed him, tore us to pieces.

Excellent penalty taker, blasted em down the middle.

Wasn't that hat-trick against Oxford unusual in that he scored them all with his head?

Did John Aldridge ever actually score a penalty against us or did he miss them all? He almost cleared the Ponty end roof with one.

Aye, when we beat Tranmere 3-1 over the Christmas period (I think!) during the 1992/93 season.

He was some player. He was almost 33 when he signed for Tranmere, but went on to score 174 goals for them, more than most strikers get in their entire career. **** at penalties in front of the Ponty end though.

And he was always offered plenty of sympathy by the Ponty End faithful!

West Yorkshire have lost two teams since I was a lad - Bradford Park Avenue (Saw us lose 7-2 there) and Halifax (Went about 6 times and never saw us win).

North Yorkshire have lost Scarborough and York every so often which makes Yorkshire as a whole pretty useless compared to the old Lancashire teams.
