Ticket Pricing

At the moment we only have season ticket prices and match day prices and no in between. I think there should be packages for supporters who can only get to a limited number of games per season. Now we have the technology, I propose something along the lines of:

ANY 5 Matches for £100
ANY 10 Matches for £180
ANY 15 Matches for £240

The amounts are for illustrative purposes only and could probably be pitched in a better way. It would cater for those who can only get to midweek games, those who can only get to Saturday games and those who live too far away to attend every fortnight.

It would also still give the best saving to season ticket holders.

 

I also think your should be able to add money to your season card as the season progresses to spread the cost of the following seasons pass

 

I raised this point too earlier in the season. Don't really know why we don't do it. I was living in Burton last season and had a season ticket, but definitely wasn't able to get to enough games to make it worthwhile. Now I live in Birmingham and just pay on the day and probably go to the same amount of matches.

If the club had something in the middle I'd buy it now for next season.

It has been rejected as it opens up the possibility that many fans would cherry pick games rather than buy a season ticket

 

Yeah it's in the interest of the club to make buying a season ticket the best option - if it works out at £14 a game then it still makes sense to get one even if you are likely to miss a few games.

I'd make pay on the day a flat £20 though.

 

Put it in the bank (get a separate account for saving for it). Or under your bed if you like to hoard cash.

 

I can't save Fu'ck all me, if I open a packet of biscuits they never see cupboard again, same with money if I've got it I'll spend it, best thing for me is to buy saving stamps so they can't be spent which is what I do.but it'll be easier to top up mi season ticket if they did that

What happens when a card is rejected at turnstile as used up the credit? Any one know what folks reaction is when card refused (lets say they've tried to use it twice)?

 

In doing so they are pricing a lot of people out of football. Someone who can only get to 10 games per season, isn't going to buy a 23 match season ticket. We've got to be a bit more imaginative than saying 'If you can't get a season ticket, you've got to stump up £25 quid every match'.

 

We run the risk doing that though of STHs thinking "well i'm only really bothered when we play Bradford and Blunts so will save some cash, pay 100 and just go to the main games".

 

It's better than not going at all, which is what a lot of people are doing, as match day prices are too high.

 

We can but dream that it's ever going to be an issue with 14,000 empty seats every game.

 

Surely the club can come up with a system that works? If they categorize the games and then sell a 15 game ticket based on 5 cat C, 5 cat B and 5 cat A?

If someone has used up all their Cat A tickets and really wants to go to another game then they can pay to top up their remaining tickets to cat A for a set price?

 

That seems to me like confusing the issue that took so long to simplify.

 

Yes and I've been suggesting this to the club for years. You pay upfront for x number of games and get the discount, but you would still have to 'book' a match ticket each time and exchange one of your vouchers for it. If you don't book ahead and miss out, then tough.
Work means I can only get to around 7-10 games a season; generally midweek and a very occasional weekend, so I couldn't just pick & choose the 'big' games. I don't have a choice! That kind of 'flexi-ticket' would suit me down to the ground.

 

Don't think it's that confusing. The club should help their supporters get to as many games as possible.

 

Well last time it were different pricing for different category games and folks dint know which game were which category and folk who turned up occasionally were put off cos it weren`t straight forward enough.

 

Trouble is, it probably won't do that. It'll more likely appeal to people who already buy a season ticket. There are many people who buy a season ticket knowing they won't be able to make every game, but they get one anyway. If they've got a choice and could buy this, that's what they'll do because it will make sense for their circumstances. Conversely, I don't see it appealing to that many pay on the day supporters. The net result will be we'll lose season ticket holders to this new system not gain them from people who didn't previously buy a pass.
