Bit of a difference there though Dragon ! We were at War , not just bank rolling the rich baskets !!

I saw the other day that according to Oxfam,by the year 2017 1% of the worlds population could own 99% of the worlds wealth, if things carry on at the same rate as now !!

It will never happen. The comparison with Germany that the article makes is flawed and doesn't compare like for like. One thing is true though and that is if the balance of power is held a 'foreign' nationalist party then we will be in for a very interesting time during the next term.

 

At first glance a Lab / SNP coalition looked like one of the better (of a lot of bad) options - but the more I think about it, the more I reckon that a party which is only really interested in a small portion of the UK governing over the whole of it could get very messy indeed. Still got to be better than a Tory - UKIP alliance.

 

Very messy indeed which is why I just can't see any of the main political parties entering into a coalition with a minority party who's primary objective is to break up the union. It won't be a problem if the Tories gain the most seats because the SNP have said 'categorically' that they will not join a coalition with them and as we all know politicians never lie.

 

But the SNP also believe in social justice and public services. Which most people who vote Labour do. I'm pretty sure anyone who votes Labour in the next election would rather see a progressive left coalition of Greens, SNP, Plaid etc than a Labour coalition with the Tories. Surely that's democracy if parties of the left hold the majority. This might result in better outcomes for Scotland and Wales but IMO much better outcomes for all of us too if it challenges the austerity and privatisation agenda.

 

I think they'd prefer the Labour party in Scotland to get their acts together so they didn't have to scratch around for support from minority parties. Personally I don't think it will be an issue because I don't think the Labour party will win enough seats to form a coalition government.

 

That would require the Tories do increase their share of the vote. Do you think that will happen? Particularly with the rise of UKIP splitting the right

 

I can see another coalition with the Tories and another or maybe even a minority government (which will result in another election well before the five year term ends).

In respect of UKIP I think many of their supporters will revert to type come the general election and vote for a main party, most probably the Tories.
