Whats this thread got to do with football and Barnsley Fc ?? Does anyone know when the tvs on the concourse will be switched bac on ?
Often get a drippin, stuffin and rost pork sarnie from there ont way to Dove for a few pints before match - in fact it's only time I go in there, probably why it's shuttin
Was talking to lasses behind counter in shop yesterday and he's giving up completely. The End. Sad, sad news. Gonna buy a thousand pork and stuffing sandwiches and freeze them.
It's been a hugely successful business for many, many years. It's a Barnsley institution. The reason it's shutting is Mr Charlesworth is now in his 80s and with the complex in the town centre housing his shop being demolished, I guess he thought it was the right time to bow out, rather than looking for new premises. I don't think it's anything to do with him not making money. I love all the new posh farm shops dotted about the place you get these days. I like all the gastro pubs selling home cooked food and craft ale, instead of frozen chips and **** lager that was our only choice for years. But I also love the No 7 which hasn't changed since I first went in more than 25 years ago. I like getting a pint of Barnsley ale, then going down the road to a place I've known all me life where I can get dripping on me sarny. I'm going to miss that.
I allus think Rob Royd Farm Shop ought to have a town centre presence - their pork pies are out of this world.
