I came back from Oldham via the Holmfirth road tonight and in complete contrast to this morning it was clear. It looks like a combination of the snow plough doing a good job and the snow turning to rain to clear away all the shitty white stuff. Oldham is perfectly clear too. You reds.
It was treacherous this morning, all the way from the outskirts of Penistone to the other side of the Pennines. Just as you dropped down from Saddleworth into Greenfield it just turned from snow to rain. The Holmfirth road was almost impassable.
Never seen owt like it. On the way in it was ridiculous. Way back like nowt had ever happened. This morning within 200 yards went from carnage to clear. I can't get my head around it...
Good stuff by the Oldham council as per usual. Whenever we get bad snow in Huddersfield you can bet the Huddersfield Examiner will show pictures of where the Oldham/Kirkless border ends to show their side clear and our side unsafe. They always get plenty of letters about it.
To be fair to Kirklees the Huddersfield side was perfectly clear too however I think the rain has helped to save the day.
It's on the work phone. But after this week it's in the drawer at home. And I'm in the boozer downing a few lol
Should be okay. Pre-warned Jay and my dad. Setting off at half 11. Give you a shout when we get there
Put about an inch of snow down at Crow Edge yesterday, had to get snow plough out on yard for lads to carry on working
