Asking folk to sit down isn't necessarily boring though. Went to the Chesterfield game with my niece. First half we were up and down every 5 minutes, second half more or less stood up for the whole time. Doesn't make any difference to me, stand up, sit down, I don't care. But sat to our left was a father with two small kids. When people stood up the kids simply couldn't see. To our right were two old fellas. They preferred to be sat down, but were OK standing up. What they couldn't do was constantly get up and down. By the time they'd stood up, everyone else had sat back down. Understandably, those on both sides were asking people in front to sit down, not because they're boring, but what was happening was seriously impacting their enjoyment of the game. They cheered and shouted as much as anybody, but folk in front of them who could see if they sat down stopped others from seeing by standing up.
Bloke in front of me in the second half was doing my nut in, just kept randomly standing up, which meant I had to stand up to see anything, I could then hear everyone behind me moaning. I'm not bothered if I'm stood up or sat down but I wish folk would pick one rather than flit between the two.
Another alternative view. 1st half I was sat in front 3 rows. Not obstructing anyone else's view. Atmospher behind us was sh1tt ariund us. 2nd half I was at the very back looking down on the away end. 95% were bland, mundane happy clapping boring fans. Away win, 6 on bounce, top 6 and not an once of life in most (majority) of fans. Very poor IMHO Upmost respect to the ones that tried!
Some stayed at home, some were in disabled areas, others didn't have an issue because it wasn't up and down.
Pardon the pun(ish) happy clapping doesn't meant they were happy and/or clapping. Quite the opposite. I shod have put 'sadly immotive'! The majority were lifeless!
The trouble is it only takes one person to stand up and then it has a knock on effect, it doesn't matter how much we complain it will always happen. The reason we have seats in the first place is to prevent a Hillsborough type disaster ever happening again.
Stayed at home?? Doubt it. Disabled stand held 100 tops. It was much worse stood up for 90 mins and being sent flying when we scored back then.
Some away fans such as Leeds all stand up - cant see the problem in that unless you are a bit unsteady on yer feet then you need to find somewhere else to view. There aint going to be another Hillsboro if there is seating even if everybody stands up - basically because there is a seat, whether up or down, between you and the person in front and behind you.
When I was a kid we could move to front or out of way of big mesters to enable us to get a view nowadays you have to stay where your put so if you get big fekers in front of you or three rows down that stands up making everyone behind them stand up to get a view except the little ones who can't see.but hey its OK as long as the big bully type get their way who gives a fek about the little ones eh. One of the reasons I don't take grandkids to away matches because of big bully boys.
