On 26th February i backed us with Sporting Index to finish the season on +57 points at £10 a point.
Just 4 more points required then i am on to £30 every win and £10 every draw to the end of the season.
    Exciting times.

He bought us at 57 points on a spread-betting exchange for £10 a point.

Every point above 57 wins him £10.

Every point below 57 loses him £10.

It's dangerous as ****, because you can lose more heavily than with other types of betting!

    So there was no stake?
Just the risk of losing ten quid a point?
Is the bet with a company or an individual?

Then ten quid a point is the stake - if we lose every game between now and the end of the season, he's £40 down.

I think you can spread-bet with both companies and individuals. Sporting Intelligence rings a bell.

So how do you pay if you lose. say we hadn't hasd this good run and got to end of season on 47 points, how do you pay the £100. does it have to be in the account already or do you pay up what you owe at end of season

ok, so when he made the bet in feb he had to pay the difference between current points (41) and 57 at £10 per point.

was never gonna be stuck paying the full 160 quid out but we werent looking like getting to 57 at the time

When i opened the account 2 or 3 years ago i was give a credit limit in my case £500. Any bet that you place there is no cash layout and is settled at the end of the bet one way or the other.
as my original post says it is looking good for picking up a few quid this time but as pointed out by others it can be a very high risk form of betting.
Proof of that last season i backed us and it cost me £280.

At the time of the bet we had 15 games left and i needed to get another 16 points ( 5 wins and a draw ) that to me looked infinitely possible hence i placed the bet.

I backed us for top 6 at 20/1 on 31st Jan after 2 losses on the bounce

We then had 2 wins on the bounce and winall on the way back - bu then winall injured again and 2 losses and danny sacked followed by a hammering t crawley - the rest is history.

Only had a fiver but i can already cash out for 20. But will leave it in there :)
