I'm going to get some stick for this but I vote Lewin Yes he's had some poor games but overall a fantastic season Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
scowen....everything changed with him here......it was an utter shlte season before him....utter shlte I tell ya
I think the final vote will be influenced by who shoots us into play-offs but for me Hourihane by a country mile - when he's on his game we win.
My current shortlist is Conor Hourihane Josh Scowan Martin Crainie Not counted loanees Youngsters Mason Holgate shortlist of one so far
Best defender has been Nyatanga, best midfielder Hourihane, best striker Winnall. Winnall has missed 3 months, so I don't think I can consider him. Nyatanga has been the most consistent, but for the sheer number of goals he's scored and created I'll have to go with Hourihane. Hope we can keep him because I reckon he's still learning and there's much better to come.
Re: what about Holgate He's only started 11 games. As well as he's played in those, I'd like to see a POTY who has started at least two thirds of our games.
Agreed, if this is what he is like in his first season in League One, I can't wait to see how great he'll become (either having an extra season in this league or seeing how he manages his second step up in two seasons).
Over the whole season my vote is now going to Nyatanga. I had Berry down for the first half of the season but Lewin has been pretty consistent all season.
Hourihane. Even when his. Form deserted him he still set up most of our goals. Played in his correct position one of League 1's better players
I really can't chose, Winnall up to Christmas just ahead of Berry, Scowen ahead of Pearson since. Nobody has been consistently good for a full season for me. Hourihane had a good 3 months where he was anonymous, but seems to be back at his best now. Nyatanga was poor for me upto about christmas, but he's had a solid 2nd half to the season. I genuinely can't decide.
I'm same, can't decide. Nyatanga has been Mr Consistent and has weighed in with goals. Hourihane has provided goals and assists and despite a lull in his form is playing really well again. Winnall was excellent up to getting injured. Scowen and Pearson have been top class since they joined us. Tough choice. The obvious choice is CH but plenty of others have their name in the hat. Plenty of football to be played before we have to choose.
Long way to go yet. With Hourihane coming back into form, Nyatanga playing well, Winnall coming back and Scowen playing as well as he is it could go anywhere this season. I reckon Holgate is a shoo in for YPOTY though.
it's hard to say the top 3 as there's still a while to go this season, I'd like Sammy Winnal to be in the top 3 but he has missed a lot of this season so he's going to have to finish the season really well. If Hourihane doesn't get player of the year something is wrong, without his goals and assists I would never look at the league table because it would not be good viewing. Although if Scowen had been here the whole season he would be a serious contender for me.
Hourihane by a mile. I'm shocked so many aren't picking him. I can't consider Winnall because he's missed half of the season. If he'd been fit all season he'd be under consideration. Whilst Nyatanga has contributed with plenty of goals from the back I don't think his defensive performances have been as good as Cranie or Holgate.
Pearson is the best player I've seen in a Barnsley shirt doing the job he does he's underrated by quite a few of our fans too, Scowen is the best player we have contacted directly to the club. But Hourihane as been our best player this season and deserves to be named player of the season, Sam Winnall is quality too, as is Mason Holgate, but them 4 have not played as many games this term as Conor so it's him for me
