Very similar to myself. I've had a season ticket for 14 years now, although this season I didn't bother for financial reasons. Up until the sale of Done I attended every home game and about 4/5 away games. But like you, I knocked it on the head. It really knocked the stuffing out of me. I work hard for my money, genuinely hard lugging boilers about and messing with shitty toilets. Keith Hill alone is the reason I have only been to the Sheffield United game and I went yesterday. He doesn't make me feel valued as a fan. Some of his comments alone make we want to punch him square in the face. And then when you go to a game like yesterday where he out right takes the p*ss out of us all I have to analyse the situation. I am not enjoying watching Rochdale at the moment, it's not the players or the performance of the players, it's Keith Hill, his tactics, his moaning, his arrogance and his lack of respect that has turned me away. I never thought I'd see the day but it's been quite an easy decision. I read this board every single day, I love the contrasting opinions. But slowly, I feel like people are feeling very similar to myself. My dad, and my dads best friend have followed suite and opted out. When we start feeling valued, wanted and respected we will return. There isn't enough of us fans as it is without feeling unappreciated. Some on here will probably say I'm not a true fan, but my bank account over the last 14 years begs to differ.
I could have written that ( well apart from the boilers) the guy is a king sized ****, loves to take the credit for the good times but when its not going for them just looks for excuses, talks general ******** and alienates fans
I despise the fella. He needs to realise what the fans mean to football clubs. He treat us like **** when he was here and looks like he's doing the same to a club fanbase who's given him so much support over the last few years, before and after us. He's obviously never been a football supporter and loves the game through being a professional and not because he loves it from a fans point of view. It would be great news one day when I log onto here to find out he's working in a burger van back in Bolton or is managing a lower league team in Albania.....*****
Don't read it then? All sorts of subjects and topics get posted on here many don't have anything to do with football so this is more "on topic" than many things that get posted on here.
I thought it was relevant, Gally. Glad you agree. I thought it interesting that some of the Dale supporters see him as many supporters of BFC did. If folk don't like Keith Hill/Rochdale etc, then my advice would be not to open threads with Keith Hill/Rochdale in the title.
Exactly. And that was just one post in a 100 post thread on the topic. It seems his mouth keeps spoiling things.
Posts like these are ten a penny. Find me someone who has listened to a number of Keith Hill interviews and doesn't want to hit him, then you've got yourself a story. Apart from Dyson, but he's daft.
It's like he needs to go on one of those anger management course or summat. Maybe 'stop being a knob' course come to think of it.
I think I'm quite a good judge of character and after about 3 weeks of him managing us I thought ...... "this blokes a knob". He has since continually proved me right
I'll take LJ and his 'triggers on the grass you know what I mean getting giddy about philosophies and methodologies' every day of the week over a bloke telling me not to have hopes or dreams about my football club whilst practically calling me a lovely person.
Clearly good at managing football players and finances is Keith. But managing expectations, managing supporters, managing to know when and how to use his big gob? Not so much.
