Bang on. He was dreadful against MK Dons, at fault for 3 of the 5 goals & was rightly took out of the firing line. If he'd performed how he has in the last few games then Jay's right but there's no guarantee he would've & I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have after how long his confidence would've been
He won't play another game for us. From what I've seen this evening he was playing for Man City tonight, they must have signed him on loan. Joe Hart would never have made all those saves.
Is it just me that didn't think he was **** at the start of the season? He's miles better now but I can't remember watching the MK game thinking this keeper's *****, I thought they scored some good goals.
He made a couple of mistakes in pre-season so a number of folk had it in for him before the season had even begun. Results weren't going well, so a scapegoat was needed and it became Davies. This idea that he was **** at the beginning of the season is utter ballacks. And I'm not changing history, I said so at the time: http://bbs.barnsleyfc.org.uk/showth...Steele&p=1561396&highlight=Davies#post1561396
I didn't think he was **** either mate. MK Dons was his worst performance at the start of the season. His only dodgy performance as it goes. Judge again for yourself. I think he should have done better with the first and I blame him for the second. But at the match, and watching the highlights, my overriding concern is how easily MK Dons walked through our defence.
Thanks for posting that, Jay. I've always been impressed with Adam and I am pleased he's took this second opportunity with both hands. That bumped thread shows you two kinds of fans.
Cheers mate, I have the same opinion could probably have stopped the first and crap handling for the second. If that was his worst performance then I'd say he didn't have a bad start at all.
Completely agree - but again, people jumping the gun and singling out players without really opening their eyes. To clarify though, I never really thought Turnbull was doing too bad. Proves I know f.ck all.
Davies has definitely pulled off some outstanding saves, but surely the other part of it is that he's not being put under pressure by defenders and midfielders making stupid mistakes (misplacing passes, backing off from wingers, leaving the opposition's top scorer unmarked)? It seemed like every other goal we conceded in the first half of the season was completely avoidable with a bit more concentration. My memory of that is that, as usual, it was a few extremely loud people.
You're probably right. You can get the idea that the whole BBS thinks one thing, but in reality it's just a few repeating the same gripes over and over again. Agree with you about Davies being far better protected now too. The whole team, from front to back, protect the 'keeper far better than in the opening months of the season. The challenge for Johnson is to keep the solidity and add a bit of flair and attacking threat. Tough job. We shouldn't start judging him on that until at least Christmas time.
Turnbull has apparently cost us loads of points that Davies would otherwise have secured for us, if we take the original post seriously. Which it is of course impossible to.
I beg to differ. I think the only goal that day he could take any blame for was the second, where he got beat a little too easily at the near post. The rest were just a result of him being left exposed, time and again that afternoon.
