http://www.dw.de/successful-lawsuit-threatens-time-limited-contracts-in-football/a-18341045 I'm confused.
Was Muller arguing that he should have been treated as a permanant empolyee of the club as he was there longer than 2 years
Yup, that's about the size of it. Temporary contracts are only allowed for 2 years. He'd already been there three when they offered him an extension, so his argument is he should have been given a permanent position, as would happen in any other profession.
Which is all well and good. until they then want out at the first sign of another club wanting him......
They should also accept that they can be sacked too then. Permanent contract for footballers, never heard owt so daft. Clubs will end up with a squad of 100 with 60 of them over 50yo.
maybe he is arguing that he wants football players to be treated in the work place like normal people normal contracts, treated better, minimum wages.............
Are taking the piss? Treated better? Some of the fecking players BFC have had over the years should have been on minimum wage ! Normalpeople with normal contracts get fired if they dont perform, footballers stay employed and their boss gets sacked !!!
Employment law from my limited knowledge would seem to be on their side as the initial judgement has determined. Not sure how practically that it could work though I mean you don't get 60 year old professional footballers. As I understand it. Most footballers contracts contravene employment law in one way or another. The transfer system is probably illegal.
Aye. It's all coming. Bosman was the start. Eventually no transfers etc. And players could leave on notice. Then we won't get **** all for the likes of stones
I suppose you could put break clauses and exclusivity clauses into your contracts. I'm surprised that the majority of contract aren't performance related rolling ones already.
