Doug O'Kane on Twitter saying we've loaned Joe Wildsmith, a keeper from Wednesday due to Davies injury? Confirmed by club too. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>The Reds have signed Sheffield Wednesday Goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith on an emergency loan to April 25th, 2015.</p>— Barnsley FC (@bfc_official) <a href="https://twitter.com/bfc_official/status/581078664235847680">March 26, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I hope Davies isn't injured as in out of the next few games. He has contributed enormously to our recent run and I fear our position may slip if we have any less capable / experience in goal.
I'm sure Dibble has been on the bench in recent games. He was definitely part of the warm up at Oldham. I didn't get to Oakwell in time to see the warm up or hear the line up on Saturday.
Thats bad news know nothing about Wildsmith but its hard to see him playing as well as Davies has these past weeks Just in time for the runaway league leaders too couldnt be better
Only seen Doug O'Kane/Andy Giddings mention an injury to Davies. Club have only confirmed the loan part of the story. Fingers crossed it's not Davies. Big games coming up and he's been one of the key performers.
We could well do without Davies being injured, but we're certainly not going to be wasting a loanee spot with a keeper on the bench, so there must be some sort of problem. Wednesday seem to rate this Wildsmith though, so hopefully he turns out okay. Not ideal to be facing the runaway leaders away from home with a young keeper making his league debut though!
Davies injured, Dibble on international duty, Turnbull injured. Wildsmith is the current Wednesday academy player of the year, highly rated. Good luck to him.
Crossley knows Wildsmith having already worked with/coached him. As he had done with Davies. Trust him.
It's a blow for us and the lad himself. Think we'll have to wait for LJ's press conference to know how bad the injury is and how long he'll be out etc.
I'm guessing we're either going with no keeper on the bench this weekend, or promoting an academy keeper. But aye, Crossley finally playing for Barnsley would have been good.
He's a goalkeeper after all. His job is the same as Davies. Why shouldn't he do a good job ! I remember Sheff Wed playing Mansfield Town in F.A Cup 3rd round at Hillsborough, back in early 70s. Peter Springett was their first team goalkeeper, he was injured, the reserve goalkeeper was also injured. What in fact happened was that an announcement was made over the tanoy for their junior goalkeeper, called Gary Scothorn and who was in the ground as a spectator, to report to the dressing room and get ready to play. He did just that and Wednesday went on to win 4-0. Anything can happen . Let's trust him.
I wouldn't have thought Davies would be out long as surely if there were a chance he'd be missing most of the run in or the rest of the season we'd have brought in a much more experienced keeper to try and keep the promotion push going?
