Having read Gally's comments on Patrick's demeanour at the meeting I thought I'd start a thread which might demonstrate to him that the vast majority of our fans are extremely grateful to him and his family for the time, efforts and financial support that they have provided. Most of us do not agree with the unwarranted and occasionally vitriolic criticism that they have sometimes received on this forum and others. I feel that the club is in good hands. Patrick, keep up the good work. Feel free to second, third etc these sentiments if you agree or add your own POSITIVE comments.

We pretty much have him to thank for having a team to support. There have been ups and downs that's the life of a small town club but Patrick should be proud every time he sees people walking into Oakwell that they can because of him. We are proud of him and happy to have a true fan as our chairman. Of course there's a daft vocal minority on any issue but the majority of us value him and the way he has supported us.

This club would not be here today without his support. He only ever does what is right by the club which is something fans of other clubs would like to see from their owners.

Couldn't agree more. Where would our club be without Patrick Cryne. The man speaks with such conviction and passion for the club. His commitment is huge. He's open and admits his mistakes - not the actions of someone who is dishonest. Really don't understand why any Reds fan would abuse he or his family. Thankyou Patrick.........

I posted earlier when some people were having a pop at him. The word respect comes to mind. Patrick Cryne has saved Our club from extinction. There are mindless morons on this board and thankfully they are in a small minority, who seem to have upset him and his family. They should be thankful he is in charge of the club. The vast majority are behind him, and it would be nice if his Son would reconsider and become a director. Keep up the good work Patrick

Not to be a killjoy, but if he does read this place & doesn't get the sense of appreciation folk have for his efforts I doubt another thread will do it.

If it was James that suggested the statistical modelling approach to signings it's a great idea. Anything that can give us an advantage is the right thing to do. If he can be innovative like that he would clearly be an asset if he decided to cone back on board.

I guess it's easy to drown out the voices of the many and listen to the most strident however daft. The Wilson sacking is a prime example of that.

Patrick is a very intelligent man, & knows the territory, he's been involved in the game for over 10 years now - when things go badly you take stick. When they go well people fall over their feet to tell you how great you are.

Even after the Wilson sacking I didn't see that much negativity towards him or his family - I saw people questioning his decisions but absolutely not his motives. And I don't believe there's anything at all wrong with that.

Agree with Dyson here. There's been a few grumblings and questions asked - don't we all get that when things aren't going too well in our jobs?

But I never saw hatred or abuse or a mass call for Cryne to leave. Did I miss it?

My one problem with Mr Cryne, is that he tends to listen and act to the Rent a Gob Mob minority far too readily.

Wouldnt like to think where we would be without him. Never met him but if I did I would thank him for the time effort and financial backing he has gave to the club.

Patrick is definitely an articulate intelligent guy not adverse to a bit of smoke and mirrors (the Stones transfer in no 7 for instance) to deflect criticism but he does seem to have taken stuff to heart recently.

Personal abuse to himself and his family is never acceptable. I would hope if any decent fan saw his son James or Nyantaga being verbally abused on the train that they would try and defuse the situation. However as supporters we should have the right to question things we want to know about and Patrick has been successful in life long enough that you can't please everyone always. I'm pretty certain he will know the large majority of the fanbase are very grateful for all he's done.

Would you take it you heart, if people were verbally abusing your children?

    If you are reading Patrick:

You may never have kicked a ball on the turf, but I hold you in the same esteem that I reserve for those special BFC personnel

    Ronnie Glavin
    Macca
    Redders
    Danny Wilson
    Bobby Hassel

    and you Patrick Cryne

When the history of this club is finally writen, you're name, along with those above will be writ large.

From a personal point of view I want to try and explain why. I grew up in Barnsley, but haven't lived in there for well over 25 years now. But, like yourself I love that little town and all its wonderful folk. As the years have rolled on, one by one the ties have gradually been weakened. Parents and relatives have passed away, contact with friends have been lost, and visits 'home' have become less and less frequent. But there is one tie, one constant, that has remained strong through thick and thin ... Barnsley Football Club.

Being from Barnsley is a big part of who I am, a big part of my identity. Its my heritage, of which I'm proud (very proud). I doubt that I'll ever get to come 'home' now, though the draw still remains, and that saddens me. However, life goes on and I have two wonderful (semi cockney) sons now. Cambridge is their home, its has their friends, their loved ones and their memories. This is where all their attachments are, and rightly so. Folk on here that still live in Barnsley may not get this, but I desperately want them to know their 'other' heritage/roots. I want them to get a sense of my life, my parents (whom they never met), & my history through my town.

Thanks to you Patrick I can still do that through Barnsley Football club and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Its not life or death, but it is MORE than just a football club to me. Its a feeling of belonging, it connects my sons to their Grandparents and their roots in a way that would otherwise no longer be possible.

Hold your head up high Patrick, you're not alone.
