Do any boxing fans reckon Mayweather v Kahn is a likely possibility in the future?

I only watch the big fights featuring Brits so I've no idea what goes on in the sport day to day or how the fights are put together.

    Looks unlikely.

This is the penultimate fight of Mayweather's latest TV deal. Assuming he wins, he'll then fight again in September, and then potentially retire. Khan can't fight in September due to Ramadan, with his second fight of the year being November/December normally.

That being said. If Khan does keep winning, he is a big name in the US, and Mayweather might not be able to turn down fighting in front of 80,000+ at Wembley to go 50-0 and level with Marciano and Calzaghe.

That's the frustrating thing about boxing for me, being able to avoid fighting someone who you don't fancy fighting...it's like Man Utd saying we don't fancy playing Liverpool but we'll play West Ham instead in order to get the points we need for the title!

Yeah, as said in reply to Redrum, it's annoying how the Champion can just choose to go through the motions and pick and choose who he fights and inevitably go for someone they know they can beat.

This probably sounds very uneducated as I don't follow boxing that much but it would be great to see something like Kahn v Brook with the winner being given a shot at Mayweather.

Another question mate - Mayweathers 47-0-0 record, looks pretty unbelievable but would you say he has generally stayed within his comfort zone for fights as opposed to Pacquiao who has lost five?

    Not uneducated at all mate.

It's not quite as straight forward as that, but I know what you mean regarding picking opponents. You can avoid one fighter whilst still facing multiple legitimate contenders and loads of great fights. Some fights just never come off, which is a shame.

In terms of Brook v Khan we need to remember that that fight has never really been a legitimate option until last week. They weren't at the same weight, Brook needed a name on his CV, and then once he got that and got the title he had the horrific attack so was never going to fight Khan on his return. Some people claiming Khan is chicken, in my opinion, are seeing things as a bit too black and white.

Anyone who goes undefeated for that length of time will always have their record challenged. Calzaghe will always be criticised for not going to America much earlier, and Mayweather will be criticised for seemingly avoiding two or three fighters through various hiatuses or retirements.

Thing is with Mayweather, there's some bloody good names on that record, and other than the split decision win against De La Hoya and a toughish fight against Cotto, he's never really been in trouble. The guy is a class act.

I fancy Manny to beat him.

And I think Kahn would do Brook too.

    I'm rarely wrong.... ;)

I worry about the Mayweather v Pacquaio fight not finishing with a clean result and leading to another lucrative rematch. I definitely won't be betting on it for that very reason. Can see Manny losing a disputed decision.

The Khan that beat Alexander beats the Brook that beat Porter. Not guaranteed for those fighters to turn up on the night though.

I do like Kahn's style but would you not support Brook if that fight was to come off with him being a South Yorkshire lad? Or is he a blunt?

I've always liked Kahn. He's exciting to watch. Capable of flash knockdowns either way. And he's suffered a bit, off the back of huge hype, so fair play to him for then always stepping back in (and up).

But I like Kell too. I don't give a **** where they're from. After my boxing hero, Calzaghe, I'd put Naseem second in terms of boxers I've loved and been to watch a lot in their pomp. He was a deedar too. Not arsed.

Tyson Fury's my boy these days, and he's a gypsy.

    Not arsed.

Would love to see Kahn/Brook. Huge fight, Wembley sold out ala Froch/Groves. Brilliant. And I'm looking forward to Manny and Mayweather, but as Loko points out, I've a feeling it'll end strangely. So much money involved. In fact, it's possibly the biggest boxing PPV of all time.

Already is mate. The biggest single sporting fixture gross income wise in history. Why would you not do something to just repeat those numbers again six months later?

Looks set to beat the Mayweather/De La Hoya PPV numbers by about 800,000.

Conisdering I don't see that fight going more than three rounds I struggle to agree with you. Coyle is just waiting to be knocked out everytime he fights.

Can't wait for it to happen though. Might even get a ticket and go.

Disagree on the hype as well. Sky are all over Luke Campbell right now, as is Eddie Hearn. Documentary last night (or night before) was immense.
