Makes no difference people still won't bother, it's not entertaining and that's all that matters, people pay for entertainment charge £23 or a 5er, they're not going to pay to watch a big lump up top on his own with his back to goal, two holding midfielders, wingers that don't take players on and beat them, we've even stopped shooting from distance, your casual fan don't want to watch what's on offer at Oakwell and until it changes they won't come, where down to the core fan base people who turn up out of habit and for the social with family and friends, your walk up fans aren't going to go for what's on show

I don't have an issue with the Rochdale fans and it probably wouldn't bother me seeing them celebrate making it into the play-offs unless it was at our expense of course. What I wouldn't be able to watch is Hill and our ex players celebrating - that would be the worst kind of memory to take into the summer.

Roll up, roll up, watch fans' favourite Keith Hill gloat himself in to an aneurysm as he secures a play-off spot for minnows Rochdale. If you're really lucky, the occasion will get the better of him and he'll rip the mic from the announcer's hand and tell you all to **** off.

I'm all for the club offering reduced ticket prices. I agree that our away support this season has, at times, been fantastic, although I suspect the vast majority of those are season ticket holders, so I'm not sure this would be a reward for them, but that's not necessarily a reason not to do it. I just think this match is the least appropriate game for such an offer. If we're still in with a chance of a play-off place then yes, do it, but I really don't think that is going to be the case. We look out of it. The chances are this will be a meaningless game for us, stuck in midtable with no chance of promotion or relegation. There will be plenty of season ticket holders who won't bother turning up. If we're going to offer reduced match tickets, which I believe that we should, it ought to be a game that is significant to Barnsley, which this isn't. To make matters worse, it could be a very significant game for the opposition, who will turn up in numbers whatever the price if that is the case, and all we'd be doing is offering them a discount promotion party.

It makes no business sense to make the last home game £5. More people turn up because it's the last game of the season anyway. You'd just lose out on revenue.

Good idea in theory, but 2 points

    1) We had the chance to convince 2 to 3k fans on saturday that oakwell is worth going to once more and proceeded to put on a very poor performance. They wont be back in a hurry regardless of price

    2) The fans giving this fantastic support you speak of will largely be season ticket holders so wouldn't benefit anyway

Can we not charge Hill 10 million to come in to cover it?

We wouldn't have to offer the deal to them for what will be a dead rubber match because clubs are entitled to offer their own fans special deals a number of times a year without having to pass them on to the opposition fans. I'd not want a cheap deal anyway as we have it hard enough keeping idiots off the pitch last match who act like they have never seen turf before. No point making it even harder for the stewards/police as the bigger crowd would put up our bill.

Wouldn't that be the "fantastic support" that has generally been not much more than the number of season ticket holders?

So who exactly are you proposing that they reward?

This is written into the Oakwell constitution.

i agree with this more. chances are, any fiver option is more likely to benefit rochdale party than ours.
