LJ has been on about the pitch again. Do you think it will have a facelift during close season, or will we become the Blackpool of league 1
I've never quite understood that business of soaking the pitch. It COULD be argued that CH was the victim of a particularly soggy area when he lost his footing, leading to their goal. On the other hand he hadn't had time to pick the mud out of his studs. I'd play in trainers if I was him. No problem with mud then!
Apparently it's better to have a softer grooved/lumpy surface than a hard grooved/lumpy surface. Either way it's a poor pitch and one that seems to stems from the pre Oldham, "can't be bothered to clear the snow" period.
Will only be as bad as Blackpool's if we do what they did. i.e. Use the cheapest common grass seed on it (as opposed to sports turf). That's what I heard from someone who worked for the club. Basically the seed was kicked off before it had time to root.
You can argue all you like about the pitch 'workman and tools and all that' The fact is there are too teams playing on it and indeed Sheffield United managed to rip us apart on it and play football. But yes it wants sorting although it was a lot better today after the short spring period and growth spurt of the grass .
I'm starting to think Johnson's just a hoof ball merchant as every game home or away there seems to be an excuse to play long ball.
i can see some jokes coming about donkeys, and the pitch getting better because theres so much crap (manure) on it
