There is no way this player should be considered Player of the Season. Apart from his deliveries, for which he is a master, his general contribution is abysmal. You can carry a striker who scores a goal every other match, but not a midfielder whose defensive duties are as important as his attacking duties.

Midfielders who score goals are hard to come by, without doubt.

However, I do not see what many see on this forum see who keep saying he has real quality. He has some quality but look beyond his goals and the odd fancy flick, trick - there's more to the game than that.

I personally think he lacks discipline and doesn't graft enough. Yes his goals have been important this term but if we bring in a steady midfielder who can bag 6 or 7 goals supplemented with two half decent wing backs or wide players then Winnall and another up top will get the goals he's scored - it's a fact.

Years ago we had a chap called Andy Payton, a 20 goals a season man but I remember Wilson got rid of him and we still got the goals because "the team" worked better as a unit without him.

Ah so we are back to electing our creative midfielders to be able to tackle owt that moves and be as successful defensively. Should we criticise the rest then for their poor offensive contribution?

It's apt you are talking about him when it will the the biggest injustice since then if he doesn't win the POTY. Maybe that kid we've got from Man United that gets talked up to the moon by the fanbase should contribute more to the team. Take out Connor and we'd be even worse for setting up goals nevermind scoring them.

For me surely on a personal note for Conor I am sure he wants to become a more rounded player just as much as he wants to play in the top league against the top teams.

We see what he can do and what he has difficulty in doing, he is working at it and if he succeeds we will mek some dosh.

Teks time and the reight mentality from the player.

Very good and I can't argue with that, it's a fact.

You can't beat a good old cut and paste.

We wouldn't have played with 10 men if CH hadn't played. Someone else would have played. They may have out performed what he's done.

We are a rubbish attacking unit. No good wingers, movement or cohesion in the final third this season imo. We'd be in a much much worse position without Hourihane's long rangers earlier in the season and his set pieces

Aye I was winding up. Still no better or worse than most. Declan John was much worse.

For what we've paid for Hourihane, and he was an unknown quantity, we've had a good season from him. He's off form for sure but the attacking quality from the first 15-20 games dwindled when we went meaner at the back, and was compounded when Winnall got injured. Steve Agnew, many years back, was hounded by many of the crowd when he didn't turn in an 8 or 9 out of 10 performance every week. I think Hourihane will have learnt a lot about his own game this season.

Berry was excellent when he came on and is another, for me, who's blown hot and cold but has done a decent job when played.

Johnson has the benefit in the summer of a nucleus of decent players, who offer something different and have had a season of experience at a higher level, to add to rather than a complete rebuild. Let's not destroy their confidence from the stands.

Not surprising Connor is struggling now, he's started every game this season (I think) at a level above where he's played before. The right thing to do is to rest him and build him up stronger for next season, not castigate him and force him out of the club.

Berry was excellent today, and I am convinced from what I've seen this season that he's cut out for this level.

He's a soft ******* & inconsistent but when he's on it he's great & his set pieces have been consistently good all season which still makes him one of the first names on the team sheet & he's the player of the season by a mile.

At times I get on at him for been a ****, like going chasing the ref instead of chasing the Chesterfield player today but there's a quality player in there & hopefully a bit more consistency

Right on the money. May I also add, 75% of those goals were penalties and another 20% were shots the keeper should have been chucking his cap on. Purple patch that ran out.

No he cant. I have never seen him cut a team open with a killer pass, his assistd come from knocking the ball into the box from set pieces, I wouldnt actually say he's amazing at that, more we have some dangerous big lads in our side.

Can I just point out that Butterfield actually involved himself in the open play not just the corners, penalties and free kicks. He cut teams open and had vision and the ability to play intricate passes through to the strikers.
