I'm in Rotherham, and still fuming about the government sacking our entire council and replacing it with some unelected bureaucrats completely bypassing the democratic process.

Don't get me wrong. They should not be allowed near a council again - except to face public enquiries, but I'm fairly sure we have a democratic process for replacing elected officials and a disciplinary process for the council employees. It isn't like we aren't having an election this year or anything...

You mean the last Labour government that paid down more of the National debt than ANY OTHER GOVERNMENT IN HISTORY ? That one , are they the one you mean ?
The financial mess that the Tories keep saying they inherited was not caused by the last Government, it was a GLOBAL melt down.
The former bank of England boss Mervyn King says so here, he was in charge at the time,
    http://www.theguardian.com/business...sible-crash-bank-england-governor-mervyn-king

The Tories before the crash were saying that Labour were too strict on the Banks, yet it seems they were not strict enough .

Depends on what you call ruin

Personally I'd say the fact that this Tory govt has forced low waged people into using food banks is ruining the country .

Lol at this post. I suppose it's fitting coming from someone with USA connections. My mates over from Florida, told me how he had to fork out around 600 dollars for a bit of root canal work. Have your privatised medical services..

Just remind me again, under the terrible Labour Government last time, did they manage to get the Countries AAA Credit rating down graded ? Or was that the Tory led Government, who are so good with the Countries finances that they have borrowed more money in 5 years than all the previous Labour Governments in history have done ?

Care to read the Tory party manifesto? They're making very expensive promises that haven't been costed.

How dare you comment on my circumstances? I spend 9 months in the US then 5 months in the UK - does that mean I am not allowed to comment or vote? Can I not vote for a party that I think will benefit my family regardless of where Iive?

I love this line thats spun by Labour. Talk about spinning the presentation of statistics. Of course we have borrowed more money under this government than any other in history. That is because, at the point they came in, we were borrowing a sum of money equivalent to about 1/8th of our total national debt that year to add to the pile. For this government to NOT borrow more than any other government in history they would have had to turn the tap off immediately. Then we would have some proper cuts to get to grips with. If labour had been in power this time they would have borrowed more money than any other government in history, it was already a done deal that that would be the case, whoever was in power. Nice line to use to bash the Tories though.

Is it not a fact ? You are making assumptions on what Labour would have done, but I will say this as another FACT, in 2010 the UK economy was not in recession when this Government came to power, they started their war on the poor and within months we were ! There are more recessions under a Tory Government than under a Labour Government. Just check out the time under Thatcher and Major for that, but it is good for them, they dont feel it and they are not the ones that have to sacrifice to get the Country out of it. They are all sitting in their big mansions moaning abouthow much caviar hasgone up, while in the real world people are using bloody foodbanks, Yes in the 5th richest Country in the World people are having to beg for food and relyon charity so they can eat.
Labour are far from perfect, they need to get rid of the right wing Progress ***** asap, but at least they care about people, not just the massive companies, that give back money to the Tory party through donations! Yes I know that the Laour Party get money from Trade Unions, thats because they were started by the Trade unions. The last Labour Government annoyed the **** out of me by trying to be Tory lite,
The cuts that have been made have not made one iota of difference ,the money saved has been shovelled into private hands.

There are too many millionaires in Parliament from ALL parties, they have no real idea how itis to have tolive on low wages, if they want anything they can just go and get some more money out of the bank and buy it, not like the majority of people that are stuck waiting for the next pay day so they can pay their bills .

I know that on here lately it seems that most are fairly comfortable in life and they seem to have forgot what it is like to struggle , take Supertyke and his housing ballax or the inheritance tax *****, something that only applys to 6% of estates anyway. I dispair for the kids around here, because most of them are in for a bloody bleak future, unless they strike it lucky .

Sorry DSLRed most of that post was not aimed at you, I got carried away.
