It's because it's a bank holiday Monday the day after, so it's to enable us to go over to Elsecar after the match and enjoy the beer festival in the sunshine, to soothe our throats after singing the praises of Keith Hill for a couple of hours.
I wrote to the Football League about this. Their answer was that the clubs had asked for it so that matches could be televised on Sky and so raise the profile of League Division 1.!! They asked me to believe that a number of people had written to them to thank them for the move as it meant they could get home earlier in the day. Really though they did because Sky asked them to. Means I will miss the last match of the season.
Poor timing would have liked a nosy at the tour de Yorkshire as it goes past our street but will be anticipating end o season pitch invasion
Perhaps its because More people are off on a sunday and so can get to the matches... also there is a bank Holl the day after too.. I have no problem with it at all... in fact I think its the best way. No matter what day the final season games over all the leagues from the Prem down SHOULD be played on the same day, be it the Saturday or the sunday .. and SHOULD kick off all at the same time. There was a time when this did not happen and it gave some teams a Psychological advantage knowing what had gone before
