According to the Chronicle..........up to 12 players wanted in the close season Why? When are we going to stop this ANNUAL shipping out and then shipping in of players In other words........when is Barnsley Football Club going to seriously start to build a team ??? (like they used to do) Successful teams add 3 or 4 new players each season..........they don't have an annual clear out We are just an handful of players away from a really strong 1st Division side. If we let a few players like Jennings go that haven't made the grade and bring in a couple of players like O'Sullivan then we have cracked it. This annual clear out by successive managers must be costing Pat Cryne £££millions
It's 12 players including players who have re-signed. He wants to keep Nyatanga and Cranie so that'll be ten players plus a number of youngsters who are out of contract.
That would be about the same time that we stop sacking managers every year, a new manager is always going to want to pick his own squad
When you've got a lot of ***** cluttering place up you have to have a clear out, Digby, Oates, and one or two others are never going to be good enough we've 7 loan players leaving 8/12 sounds about right to me make way for new signings and the next batch of youngsters
Managers tend to like to bring more of their own players in, so in answer to your question. When we stick with a manager (sorry head coach) longer than 12 months!!
Here's a good article of what Johnson said so you get an idea....... http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spor...our-mind-quickly-over-deals-johnson-1-7214622 Sounds like we could have some players signed up during May and it's good that those offered new contracts aren't going to be able to hold us to ransom for ages.
So you'd keep Mvoto,Jennings,Lita,Hemmings etc He's come across well in my book He also says there's a lot of good players in the market that have shown an interest in joining us Personally I'd go for Jonathon Forte. Out of contract in June. Ideal replacement for Lita We've lacked firepower this season. It's not good being on top for 20 mins & not making it count
It makes the European model look like the way to go - hire a coach to take care of picking the team, tactics, etc, and hire someone in charge of buying the players, then if you need to change the coach, you don't have all this nonsense and added expense of having someone come in and change the entire squad. No doubt we'll get the excuse that its a new team next season if things don't go well, and so it continues......
