£600 - £900 per month to rent a caravan on a large site that you wouldn't let your dog live in.

That works out at £1.8m - £2m per annum. All paid for by housing benefit. Another feather in the cap of the worst PM in history.

Who do you think started all these inflated benefits? At least the current government are trying to get it under control. Next step is to sort out the unscrupulous landlords who are exploiting the system.

Sorry - I was referring to Thatcher. She put this travesty in motion - and now we see the current berks promising to do the same as if it's something we should be grateful for.

Granted there's plenty of bone idle feckers in this country who don't deserve much but this isn't really my gripe in this situation. It's the greedy, morally bankrupt, money grabbing leeches who own these properties and cream thousands upon thousands of pounds per year from the public purse. We're basically buying their properties for them. Mental.

Absolutely disgusting that we in this country have so many people relying on benefits. This government just loves this situation where they can manipulate the working classes and have them working for a pittance and minimum wages to the obvious financial gain of the rich and powerful.

The climate of desperation has to created for this to happen and the Tories are really very good at this even with a supposedly lib dem handbrake on them.

That was the point I was making. The capping of benefits is a start but the landlords who exploit the system and those in need of housing need to be hit hard.

Errrrr.....you will find that your fellow scot "Bigot" Brown created a benefit culture more than anyone else with his "credit" system.

Not that I hold a torch for any political philosophy.

It's just that so many on here blame the tories, when labour are no better at all.

That should have been the first thing to get sorted.
The son of one Maggie Thatchers advisers on housing, now owns 40 ex council houses that he rents out back to the local authority at double the council house rent ! Great way to make money !

I do get your point and agree that there are many greedy and unscrupulous landlords about exploiting the homeless and needy to swell their own bank balances.

But did you get my point that we in Britain, one of the richest countries in the world, yet have thousands of people relying on government hand outs and food banks to survive. This government should be ashamed of themselves.

Rightly or wrongly Brown raised the benefits to counter the low wages firms were paying as they themselves were highering executives wages to a new level. The Tories do what the Tories do best exploit anybody desperate then blame them.
So how can you say they're no better, the intentions are miles apart. I

Brown is a traitor not only to Scotland but to the Labour party and the working classes.

He is no longer welcome in Scotland.

Well it has been sorted to an extent, I just don't think that enough has been done.
